Synopsis:

Ma Yi Deum is a young beautiful prosecutor with ambition to get into criminal division in the prosecutor’s office. She felt this where she belong and will assists her as she tries to find her missing mother for 20 years. However, her ambition was thwarted when she became a witness of a sexual harassment administrative case against her boss and ends up working for CAGU, a crime division that prosecute sexual offenders. She met Yeo Jin Wook, a psychiatrist who became a prosecutor. Unlike others who tried to avoid being a part of CAGU, he volunteered as he tries to solve his own personal case while he was a psychiatrist. Together they were able to uncover the truth about Ma Yi Deum’s mother missing case and fight against the most powerful mayor, Jo Gap Soo.

My Review:

I watched this k-drama because I like Jung Ryeo Won as an actress. I first saw her at the k-drama “My Name in Kim Sam Soon” and truly admire her talent. I believe she should get into dramas with characters who supposedly live in the US or be in abroad as she speaks English well. Anyway, she didn’t disappoint me on this k-drama. She is as good as an actress as ever.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I like the fact that the villain, Jo Gap Soo, remains true to his character from beginning to end. The k-drama didn’t change his personality nor his beliefs just so it will have a happier ending. In fact, the happy ending came by showing what happened to him in the end. It was a suitable judgement for someone like him.

(2) It is not a boring legal drama. It was able to provide a balance of everything from the mystery of Ma Yi Deum’s missing mother, the sexual crime cases Ma Yi Deum needs to deal with in court, the political nuances of korea’s legal system, dirty politicians and budding romance between Ma Yi Deum and Yeo Jin Wook. Although, there are some dark topics in the k-drama, it was able to maintain a certain lightness to it without inserting too many subplots or side stories to make it so. It has successfully delivered a legal drama that’s truly entertaining to watch.

(3) All the actor have delivered their roles well but I have to admit Jun Kwang Ryul as Jo Gap Soo and Heo Sung Tae as Baek Sang Ho made this k-drama more memorable for me even if their roles are the antagonists of this drama.

(4) Jung Ryeo Won as Ma Yi Deum and Yoon Hyun Min as Yeo Jin Wook banter and light romance were quite interesting to watch. I always like witty dialogues and exchanges between characters and they made it work.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
There’s not much I didn’t like in this k-drama, although, I would have liked to see what happened to the mother of Yeo Jin Wook after being complicit in the case of Ma Yi Deum’s missing mother. Her role in the story wasn’t given much weight especially a bit confusing in her testimony in the ending. In fact, she kinda has a big role as to why Ma Yi Deum’s mother ended up missing for quite some time. Otherwise, it was a good k-drama to watch from beginning to end.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes, Highly Recommended.
