My Review:

The premise of this drama is interesting to me. I like situations wherein it may not be entirely unique but at least above the norm. Plus, I have to admit I have to appreciate the cuteness of Jung Soo Young on the screen again after I watched him in Angel Eyes. Initially, the first few episodes hold my attention to the story, but, after awhile I find myself just watching it because of Jung Soo Young. I must say that though the ending is happy by the time I was watching the last 2 final episodes I am already sort of disconnected to the drama.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I am glad I got to see again another drama of Jung Soo Young, but, what’s with the hair?
(2) I like the premise of the story, Ha No Ra’s journey of finding herself again. It gives inspiration to women’s empowerment. That beyond being a wife and a mother, there is you. And, that life doesn’t really just revolve on having a man.
(3) I like that Kim Min Soo, the son of Ha No Ra, after acting like a brat and making me grateful I don’t have a child if it’s like that, redeemed himself at mid part of the series.
(4) What I love most on this K-Drama is the love between Ha No Ra and her grandmother, Seo Woon Hae. It touched me when Seo Woon Hae encourages Ha No Ra not to let her classmates know she is her grandmother as she doesn’t want them to look down on her as she is poor. And, the story foretold by Ra Yoon Young to Ha No Ra while they were visiting the grave of Seo Woon Hae why her grandmother’s favourite food is red bean paste bread on Episode 16 (won’t tell, so, you’ll appreciate it if ever you watch this). That was truly touching.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

(1) What’s with the exaggerated cruelty and attitude initially shown by Ha No Ra’s classmates during her first weeks of school? I hope Korean students are not basically that discriminatory. I had a classmate before in College who is I think 8 years older than us and that was 25 something years ago and we really don’t care about his age. What we didn’t like was his know it all attitude. But, even so, age was never an issue.
(2) What’s with the dance choreography of Ha No Ra when she was young? I mean it doesn’t even follow with the music being played. It is probably an interpretative dance but it doesn’t really connect with me that she’s a talented dancer.
(3) There are a lot of dragging scenes especially in the ending. I feel there’s something lacking on the entire K-Drama Series. After awhile in the series I am unable to connect with her journey in discovering herself anymore.
(4) There’s not much depth on as to why Ra Yoon Young will love and wait Ha No Ra for two decades. Just because she believes in him that he will be a successful producer 20 years later? Or, because of the grandmother’s stories about Ha No Ra to him? We are talking about 20 years and knowing that Ha No Ra got married and had a child…wow…
(5) What makes my teeth clenched with irritation is the pretentious coyness of the character of Ha No Ra while being wooed by Ra Yoon Young in the last 3 episodes. I can understand she’s been sheltered by her husband for 20 years but she’s a 38 year old woman, came back to Korea for a long time already after being secluded in Germany, has a friend who’s very vocal about life and has spent time already in College. She supposedly have learned a lot of things already and would appreciate if her character would act accordingly to make it more real. You can be shy but stop acting cute…or…is it the acting of Choi Ji Woo and not the character?

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Probably, if you have nothing else to watch and appreciates Jung Soo Young.
