My Review:

Often I watched k-dramas due to its synopsis. If I find it interesting, I check it out. This is the reason why I watched this. Though, I am familiar with the 2 leading actresses, this is the first time I watched not knowing the leading actor nor find his face particularly to be someone I can swoon over for. Guess, I am as shallow as Song Hyun Chul, lol!!! In the end, I didn’t fully regret watching this k-drama even if I wish the writer should have maintained the integrity of Song Hyun Chul’s love and character as a man.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) A lot of the initial reviews I’ve read about this k-drama compares this to be the same as ”Come Back, Mister”, which I find it ridiculous because, though, it’s slightly similar on the premise of ”Come Back, Mister”, this is where the 2 k-drama’s similarity also ends. Moreover, even with Rain in “Come Back, Mister”, this k-drama is 100% better. There’s simply no comparison in its quality of treatment of the story, though, I must admit that this k-drama also faltered on the last few episodes. However, with all of its failings and not having the star power of Rain in the cast, it still certainly supersedes “Come Back,Mister”. I found “Come Back,Mister” a nonsensical k-drama that borders to the same bewildering popularity of another nonsense drama that is “Goblin,” which this k-drama is definitely not.

(2) Kim Myung Min as Song Hyun Chul A may not be the man of my dreams in the k-dramaland but he grew on me because he brought a powerhouse performance that draws you into his character.

(3) All the actors stood out in their performances but most notably Ra Mi Ran as Jo Yun Hwa. The love she shares with Song Hyun Chul B was something everyone craves for in a marriage and it is gut-wrenching to watch her suffer in the course of losing her husband because of fate.

(4) I cried on Episode 11 in the scene between Song Hyun Chul B and her father. It was so meaningful and touching that it reminded me of my beloved late father and what I will feel if I get bless to have some miracle wherein I can share a meal with him again.

(5) The strength of character shown by Jo Yun Hwa as a wife, mother, daughter-in-law and as a woman makes her more beautiful to me than Sun Hye Jin. Her love for her husband is more real in its truest definition of love than Song Hyun Chul A, Song Hyun Chul B and Sun Hye Jin have ever shown.

(6) Love the OST.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

This k-drama would have been perfect if only it stuck to the integrity of Song Hyun Chul B’s character and his love for his family. The director probably wants good optics by focusing more of having a beautiful couple to be viewed by the audience rather than what’s true to the character of the story. And, the writer got crazy of doing exactly what was directed. When the twist of the story starts leading towards Song Hyun Chul B’s soul loving more Sun Hye Jin and forgetting his love for Jo Yun Hwa and their daughter, the story went downhill from there. The backlash of such move by the production from the audience who like me believed in the love of Song Hyun Chul B to Jo Yun Hwa that was initially presented in the story marred what could have been a great k-drama. The writer probably tried to resuscitate the error just like the deity’s mistake on the story but, I think, the solution again harmed rather than solved what was broken. It became bizarre for me because if the solution adapted in the ending can be done to restore the faith of the audience, then, why the hell did the deity did exactly that solution in the first place instead of all the characters ending up in a mess and for some to go through undeserving pain and suffering? I think the solution on the ending can be best serve if Song Hyun Chul A still died after resolving his issues because in premise most people believe that our death is already firmly set in stone like our birth. It would have made better sense. But, honestly, even with my suggestion, the mere fact that the story made Song Hyun Chul B’s love for Jo Yun Hwa fickle if given with certain circumstances had made their love not true, and their love for each other portrayed in the beginning was what’s beautiful in the story in the first place. It was the foundation of the supposed journey of Song Hyun Chul B. Having said that, over all, it is still an interesting k-drama to watch that can spark an interesting discussion depending on how you look at things.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes, it is still entertaining to watch.
