My Review:

I watched this K-Drama not because of the actors but because of the director, Kim Cheol-Kyu. He has directed Cruel City, which I absolutely love and My Beautiful Bride, which may not be as great as Cruel City but I’ve enjoyed as well. I checked his works because he makes atypical K-Dramas. Totally different from the romcoms I love yet its taste I’ve learned to appreciate. It is like kimchi that adds spice to the rest of the K-Dramas I watched that are sweet and cheesy. So, after watching too many sweet K-Dramas, my tastebuds wants to try the darker side which led me to watch this K-Drama. Kim Cheol-Kyu certainly brings the darker side of humanity in the screen yet it provides a tinge of hope and love at the end of the tunnel. This K-Drama absolutely brings flavor in my addiction that is all K-Drama.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) It is short but exponentially well worth every episode. I appreciated the fast pace and enable me to do other stuff in my life.
(2) I like the way it reveals every secret. It made me want to see the next episode.
(3) The characters are full of flaws yet there’s goodness in them as well. I am a cynical person on how I look at life and people that’s why I love watching romcoms because it provides me hope that the world can be as beautiful as it is ugly. This certainly tackled that yet it is similar to my intentions to find goodness in humanity.
(4) The range of emotions of each characters are wide and encompassing. In 12 episodes you will see the driving force of why a person will act and do things that can hurt others. There’s a reason why we are the way we are.
(5) It shows that having a family no matter how dysfunctional can still be a home, where we want to go to and belong. It can survive as long as there’s love and hope because even behind the selfishness that we all inherently have, we can be better human beings when there’s a family we can come home to and seek refuge.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
Although, this K-Drama totally surprises me with each revelations especially the last 2 episodes, there’s something that’s not totally connecting with me. I also find the love story of Gong Min Kyu a bit passé. But, all of its imperfections becomes irrelevant to its brilliant and unique approach of its story.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes, truly quite different.
