Synopsis:

Byun Hyuk is a handsome, rich and 3rd generation son of a big food conglomerate, Gangsu Group. He seems to have everything he wants but he is never actually happy but he tries to live a happy-go-lucky life that made him known as the troublemaker of his family. He never thought nor plan to be a part of his father’s corporation but his older brother, Byun Woo Sung, doesn’t believe that, so, his older brother used the trusting nature and brotherly love of Byun Hyuk to oust him out. Byun Hyuk found himself changing into a man he never thought he’ll be after he met the love of his life, Baek Joon. Baek Joon is a woman of principle and though she’s very smart, she opted to work several part-time jobs instead of a full-time career. Most of what she believed in is based on what had happened with her father. She ended up concentrating so much on earning a living and forgetting to live a life until two men changed her too, Kwon Je Hoon, her friend and first love and Byun Hyuk, the man whose family caused her father so much disgrace and despair until he died yet she can’t help but develop love for him. Byun Hyuk has a tough road ahead of him in trying to change injustices and corruption of his father’s company, being a better human being and man for Baek Joon, who also is the woman his best friend loves.

My Review:

This k-drama is a total pleasant surprise for me. I didn’t expect much when I decided to watch it and, in fact, just got interested because of the presence of Choi Shi Won, whom I found adorable in the k-drama “Oh My Lady”. Choi Shi Won is easy on the eyes and though I may not consider him one of the best k-actors existing in the k-dramaland, he wasn’t that bad. He’s not that great but not that bad either in acting arena but I found him adorable and quite entertaining to watch. His role in this k-drama and in Oh My Lady are quite similar and very suitable for him. And, the the truth of the matter is this k-drama worked and truly worthy to watch because of his chemistry with Kang So Ra and Gong Myung.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I started watching this k-drama late in the evening as I thought I can bear to watch just episode 1 and can continue the rest on another day, but, alas, I ended up doing a marathon. This k-drama has successfully delivered a light romcom while it tackles a lot of truths in life. It has a heart and I found myself getting engage on the story that I can’t help but to continue watching. A real sign for me when a k-drama is that good in entertaining me and probably those who decides to watch it.

(2) There are so many wonderful characters and situations that I can relate to and understand as they exists and do happen in real life. At times, how I wish like this k-drama and other enjoyable k-dramas I watched, that real life can indeed have happy endings. This why I love korean dramas because it can show truly difficult and sad situations yet in the end still provides the audience hope that these things can happen and end not only in reel but for real scenarios.

(3) All the actors are fabulous but I have special affinity with the supporting actors, Seo Hyun Chul as Kim Ki Sup, Choi Dae Chul as Lee Tae Kyung, Hwang Jung Min as Ahn Mi Yun, Kyun Mi Ri as Jung Yeo Jin, who is Byun Hyuk’s mother and Gong Myung as Kwon Je Hoon. This is one of those k-dramas that made supporting casts and their side stories relevant and important to the story’s development.

(4) I like the simple life lessons and messages imparted by this k-drama about money, respect, forgiveness, self-discovery, career and love. It tagged my heart in all different ways and in the end gave me happiness in spending 16 hours of watching it.

(5) The title is so apt to what the characters want to achieve which is to make changes in their lives and others for the better.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

Strange that this k-drama is something I considered a true-blue romcom even if the focus of this k-drama is more on inspiring and influencing people to create good changes within oneself and with others.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? A Definite Yes.
