Synopsis:
Kim Boong-Do is a noble scholar who is close to the King during the Joseon Dynasty has discovered the plot to murder the deposed Queen In-Hyun concocted by Lady Jang and certain ministers in the palace. Yoon-Wol, a gisaeng and has special feelings for Kim Boong-Do, gave a miraculous talisman to him who before he left his town and inform the King about the plot. In his his attempt to see the King, he was almost killed but the talisman saved his life by transporting him to different time, the 21st century. Confuse and doesn’t know what’s going on, he unexpectedly met Choi Hee-Jin, an actress who’s still trying to make a name through a drama series about the era of Kim Boong-Do. Even in the midst of bewilderment, Choi Hee-Jin and Kim Boong-Do ended up falling in love with each other but they have to face the biggest challenge, their literal distance in time and the different worlds they live in.

My Review:
I have seen this in 2012 and I have loved this K-Drama from the get-go even if I really didn’t know the leading actors at that time. It wasn’t a chore to watch it again to make a review. It remains to be one of my favorite romantic comedies in the K-drama world. I also remember that the 2 leads making their relationship from reel to real. It was just too bad it didn’t work out in their real world.
So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?
(1) This K-Drama captured in a span of 4 episodes the essence of a person lost in time with so much fun in delivery. It didn’t drag on how characters arrive from a scenario of point A to B.
(2) It was fast pace and reflect the epitome of a true blue romcom.
(3) Love the main leads and their chemistry together. Wow, and the kisses, love it!!!
(4) I like the way they depict the struggle of two people living in a world that’s 300 years apart. It is not just the nuances of living from the 17th century to the 21st but the feeling of really missing the home one only knows since birth.
(5) Most of the time couples in K-Dramas act childish to express their sweetness with each other. Often times, I found it silly and icky but for this couple, the actors successfully did this childish show of affection without me cringing. Totally love Choi Hee-Jin’s character especially in her guile and fearless ways to show her love and affection to the man she loves. She doesn’t act coy nor like a tramp, she’s just simply naturally sweet which was perfectly portrayed by Yoo In-Na. Kudos!!!
(6) I love the OST especially I’ll Give My Life With You by Deok Hwan.
What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
There’s nothing I didn’t like about this K-Drama. But, if you force and ask me to nitpick its flaws, then the ending it is. Don’t get me wrong, the ending of the story was fabulous, it was the technical aspect that irked me. In almost all the episodes, they were able to justify how Kim Boong-Do was able to do the things he does when he travels back to the 21st century except in the ending, well, I guess, the visual of looking good trumps the more realistic look for Kim Boong-Do. Kim. His clothes look crispy clean, dry and well ironed after him being drenched in the rain and for some reason he knew where Choi Hee-Jin exactly is at that given time. Moreover, the producer or the director edited the passionate reunion of the characters and opted to the usual sanitize version of K-dramas seems to have when it comes to intimate scenes. In fairness, this one at least delivers a real kiss. Probably because the actors were truly in love with each other at that time and the actress didn’t mind doing a real kiss. That being said, the story was tightly done and truly fun to watch for me to make a big issue of this flaw. Thus, passing my rating with flying colors when it comes to its level of entertainment it delivered.
Would I recommend this K-Drama? 100% YES!!!
