My Review:

I don’t know if it is because of Descendants of the Sun that made this K-Drama for me something I look forward to into something I just need to watch to know what happens. It was ironic because at the beginning this was the first K-Drama I watched first before Descendants of the Son which I thought is going to be a typical melodrama. And, the first 2 episodes of this K-Drama truly started really good. It was funny and very interesting. However, as it goes through the episodes I find the acting of Rain and Oh Yeon-Seo becoming more force to make me laugh than something I can naturally laugh at. The comedy is not as good as it was in the first 4 episodes and the acting is becoming more exaggerated than I’m beginning to get bored. Don’t hate me, I have to be honest, I don’t really find Rain particularly handsome in the first place, so while watching this K-Drama and looking at him overacting to make me and the rest of whomever is watching this laugh, makes me simply cringe. It is like I want to replay and watch again Song Joong-Ki at DOTS to wash away the bad taste left in my mouth. However, don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed watching Rain in “Full House” and in scenes in this K-Drama that gives him the opportunity to provide touching moments like when he and Shin Da-Hye ends up drinking and made him realized that he really didn’t know his wife because he wasted his time working too much. The same way with Oh Yeon-Seo, she is simply just trying too hard. If some found DOTS cheesy, then, I wonder what they think of this K-Drama? There’s simply no comparison and it’s not surprising why its ratings kept going down.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I like Kim In-Kwon’s way of delivering Kim Young-Soo’s character. He successfully showed both his vulnerability and insecurity that led him to work so hard that he actually forgot to whom he’s doing it for and ending up even sacrificing his life.
(2) I like Kim Han-Na’s way of showing her love and devotion for his father, Kim Youn-Soo. She has spunk and Lee Re made us feel Kim Han-Na’s character for real because most of the time children in K-Dramas rarely make a lasting impression to me except just being a part of the story.
(3) I appreciate that it leaves something to think about in regards to how we should live our life. We often heard and read about how we should cease the day and live for the moment for life is too precious to waste as we don’t know when will be our time to go and leave it all behind. It always sounds so easy to do and we want it too until the next time we are clouded by judgement and forget. How we wish we can have the same chance and finish the unfinished business we leave behind, so, this K-Drama reminds us not to forget as we may really have no more chance to do it.
(4) I like the OST especially Again.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
(1) The comedy is forced. I don’t know if it’s the fault of the director and writer or its lead actors.
(2) Since, K-Dramas are mostly filmed during the time the K-Drama is actually being run on air to adjust story lines and certain things that the fans prefer to happen, this K-Drama probably felt the force of how great DOTS is doing in the ratings (which is mind you DOTS is pre-filmed), that the production and staff of this K-Drama ended up panicking and shows its desperation to at least fight the popularity wave against DOTS. I wish they didn’t do that because the premise of this K-Drama, although, may not be unique, truly started well. I actually prefer the acting of Kim In-Kwon as Kim Young-Soo than Rain. The production should have continued its strengths rather than trying hard so much to bring out laughs.
(3) Somehow along the way it lost some of its logic. Although, built in the premise of fantasy, there are some issues in it that I wish were polished better in writing. It would have been more effective.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes
