My Review:

I watched this k-drama because of Yoo Seung Ho. Of course, like most of international k-drama fans, it is always good to watch actors and actresses one is familiar with especially for those like me who is not Korean. Moreover, one knows that when a great actor or actress in it is known to be good at on what they do, generally speaking they get involved on k-drama projects that have good storyline worthy to waste 16 to 24 hours or even more of ones life watching them. So, as a fan following this trend of thought one could most of the time assume one could do no wrong in ones choice on what to watch and not to watch. Unfortunately, lately, this trend of thought in choosing what to watch seems to be not working right. This k-drama like the previous ones I’ve seen with big and good name actors is also a let down. I have no idea what’s going on. Maybe, the k-drama writers already exhausted their talents in writing good and worthy storylines.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) The good acting talent of Yoo Seung Ho as Kang Bok Soo is not surprising. He is generally great in anything he does and can act no matter what the quality of the project is. It seems just a waste of his time and talent here. I thought “Remember Son’s War” was his worse k-drama in it but this is even worst.

(2) It is nice that this k-drama depicted the common problems currently occurring in education in real life such as giving special treatments to those born with power, influence, and rich. Also, the common attitudes of teachers that are leaning towards more on being in higher positions and geared towards achieving financial enrichment rather than caring and really providing good service to their students whom they can greatly influence and support on who they will become when they grow up. It touches the most common and real ailments of our society now.

(3) I appreciate Kim Yeo Jin as Im Se Kyung whose character remains the same till the end. I generally don’t put too much stock on villainous characters that suddenly become good and apologetic in the end. One can’t do all those evil things and suddenly, have a change of heart for no apparent reason or major upheaval unless pretending to be so to save their own skin.

(4) The actors and actresses here did a good job considering that it became so passé and boring to watch after a few episodes and can guess the ending even if you don’t watch the rest of the episodes.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

I really want to like this k-drama just because of the talent of Yoo Seung Ho but after 10 episodes I can’t go on anymore and just skip the rest and watched the ending.

(1) I can’t feel any chemistry between Yoo Seung Ho as Kang Bok Soo and Jo Bo Ah as Son Soo Jung.

(2) This was a pale comparison to “Sky Castle” who also tackled similar problems and injustices in the school system and unfairness to certain students. However, “Sky Castle” unlike this k-drama successfully created a k-drama with a boring topic and made it exciting and pleasurable to watch.

(3) There are some moment that makes me cringe that’s too passé and done so many times that it simply don’t create any connection to me anymore.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Not Really
