My Review:

I’ve watched this drama with not much expectations but at the end of it, it gave me more than what I expected. It became one of my favorite dramas of all time. It doesn’t only tackle about romantic relationships but it features one of the main insecurities and concern of women in general, the weight problem. It portrays its challenges in a realistic yet inspiring way, that one can be love even beyond one’s physical appearance. That in the end it is truly about who you are and not just how you look. Yes, it is true that physical attraction is critical for you to meet your mate but at the end of the day what lasts is who you are beneath that gels with the other person that’s beyond the physical attraction. This drama showed it in manner that you will enjoy and make you laugh even if there’s sad truth behind its comedy. It has also tackled the stages of romantic relationships that entices you to watch from start to finish.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I like how Kim Sun Ah portrayed Kim Sam Soon. She gained weight for this role and is very natural in her delivery of being Kim. This was actually adapted in my country with Filipino actors but I found that when they adapted it, I think the Filipino production somehow got lost in translation on the main essence of who is Kim Sam Soon in the goal of trying to make it funny. The Filipino version just didn’t make Kim Sam Soon heavy but gross in manner and personality. In the Korean version, it is just about Kim Sam Soon’s insecurity about her weight problem, her journey of discovering who she is and the challenges she must go through to find real and lasting love. It was very real and treated without stupidity unlike the Filipino adaptation of her character.

(2) This is the first time I saw Daniel Henney on the screen and I must say even as a secondary role, he made a mark. He is truly such a beautiful man and I get distracted every time he is in the scene but it’s a distraction I really don’t mind. Look where he is now in Hollywood?

(3) I like the process wherein they developed the relationship between Kim Sam Soon and Hyun Jin-Hun. It doesn’t make the relationship perfect but goes through challenges that one can relate and understand.

(4) I enjoy the comedic fun of it. It doesn’t forces to be funny and make one laughs. The drama successfully makes one laugh because it’s situational rather than toilet humor.

(5) I love the OST of this drama. I enjoy listening to it, so, every time there’s a moment or flashback I really don’t mind as I love its soundtrack.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

This is one of the K-dramas there’s nothing I don’t like. I like the characters and the actors playing them, the story, and its twists.

Would I recommend this K-Drama?

Definitely YES. This is one of the Korean dramas one should watch if one haven’t tried any K-Dramas or Films yet. If in the end one didn’t like it, then, one is not for Korean Drama at all.
