Synopsis:

Go Nan Do is a ghost to the society. Everybody thought he died as he faked his death and escape from authorities after he illegally hacked the government server at a young age. He inherited his genius mind from his Mom who died and left him a gadget that led him to develop his robotic childhood friend named Hello to an AI (Artificial Intelligent) Hologram that became Holo. As he develops this AI for commercial use, an unscrupulous competitor tries to steal it and the glasses that control Holo landed to the hands of Han So Yun. Han So Yun works at an eye wear company, Prisms. She is shy and an introvert to the point people thought she’s a snob and difficult. In reality, she’s lonely as she’s suffering from a psychological condition she developed as a child. She withdrew from people and kept this secret from others except to her mother and her roommate, who’s a flight attendant and often away due to her work. She and Holo developed a certain affinity with each other to the point that Han So Yun fell in love with Holo while, on the other hand, Go Nan Do, as a creator of Holo, who monitors Holo, fell in love as well with Han So Yun. My Review:

There are many k-dramas I’ve watched that has delved into the relationship between human and a robot or AI. Some are good while others not so much. For me, those that I didn’t like so much are those that are truly far fetched not because it is about the robot or AI but more on the human aspect of it. This one I believe is the best of all of them.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) Even though the leads here are not hallyu stars nor one of my favorite actors, Yoon Hyun Min and Go Sung Hee have done really great in portraying their characters. They also have chemistry together, so, it wasn’t that hard to connect with the two of them and care for their story.

(2) Why I consider this robot or AI K-drama as the best even at the top of my favorite robot K-drama, “I’m Not A Robot”, is because of the story. Even if it’s sci-fi, it didn’t go way off the rails that it doesn’t become believable or probable. The premise and the progress of the story make it more realistic in terms of possibilities in creating the AI, the relationship development among the characters including the AI and even the suspense part.

(3) The director and the writer were able to explain even the most banal situations that’s needed by the audience to feel the realism of the story such as the AI being 24/7 with Han So Yun while other people like the programmers are watching what’s happening in real time, so, how can she dress up or take a bath without invading her privacy? That’s properly dealt with in the story which I truly appreciate.

(4) I like that the characters stayed true to who they were and the supporting casts were able to deliver their characters well.

(5) I love the pace of this K-Drama and the story was successfully relayed to the audience in a matter of only 12 episodes without the feel of being rushed.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

This K-Drama is far from perfect as expected especially with sci-fi genre. It is very hard to stay realistic, so, this k-drama is not an exception. Such as for the first few episodes, it has stay true to what can be believable as far as the story goes between a love that can develop between a real person and an AI. However, as the plot progresses to the back story of Go Nan Do that coincides to Holo’s existence, the writer took quite a sharp turn to wrap the story in a red bow. The one thing I can surmise is that the program done seeped through Holo from his original version Hello. Beyond that, there’s just simply so many questions on its probabilities even if it’s science fiction. Having said that, this is the closest among all robot or AI K-dramas I’ve watched that’s more realistic with not much wasted screen time. It is concise but endearing.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes
