My Review:

Is the kind of love of Kim Do Hyung truly exists in real life? What a guy! And, even if the actor is not the typical handsome Korean actor, his role here exudes every girl’s dream. Someone who can love you that deep regardless of who your are and will protect you with his every breath.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I like the fight scenes. It is truly well coordinated even for a romcom kind of a gal like me.
(2) Although, it truly depicts the scums of the earth, some of the villains in this K-Drama show complexities and depth to their character. They are not not just plain evil, there’s human element as well that show vulnerability.
(3) So many twists and turns and like Cruel City, you don’t really know all the things that will happen next. I can guess some but not really all of it.
(4) I like the main lead, Kim Moo Yul. He depicted his role truly well. I also have to say bravo to the actors, Jo Han-Chul and Son Jong-Hak. Jo Han-Chul for making me like a bad guy even if he is an abhorrent human being and Son Jong-Hak for literally scaring me even if he is not even doing anything really violent. They have served their roles well.
(5) I like the editing. It has made the delivery of the K-Drama indeed succeed in being suspenseful.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

The production of My Beautiful Bride is the same as the one that made Cruel City. However, there are more glaring mishandling of the minute details here which I truly hate every time I see it on K-Dramas. I mean it shows sloppiness on the part of the director for making the show less than excellent as it could have been because of details that can be easily fixed if done meticulously. I don’t know if it is just the translation or is it just the way it can happen in Korea. I sincerely hope not the latter. I can probably expect the unprofessional and improper police work in my country but in South Korea? Is it really that incompetent the way hospitals and police do their work? For example on Episode 6 what kind of paramedics do they have that doesn’t even provide first aid on somebody that is beaten almost to death? And, it didn’t only happen in Episode 6, they just have to repeat the mistakes over and over again. On the part of the police, how can they consider an adult just a runaway and will be considered missing only after 5 years the person is gone? How can a police handle someone missing like that and in an agency handling precisely like that? How can a police whether it maybe a man or a woman be so brazen and don’t even call for a back-up in a dangerous situation? How can some civilian more so a known criminal freely go beyond the yellow tape to kill someone? The glaring apathy doesn’t extend only to the procedures but even what can a human body sustain no matter how fit you are. How can a guy after being beaten half to death survive without eating and sleeping for several days? He probably truly smell so bad after days of not even taking a shower and wearing the same underwear, for heaven’s sake, lol! I mean I am all for love but no human being can totally function well without eating and sleeping, let alone fight the bad guys. Even the simplest white polo shirt that Kim Do Hyung was wearing is still white and crisp after all the bloody mess. What the hell is that? Another thing, although, I am glad on how it ended but I would have preferred a different ending. Probably a lot of people are happier with how it did but somehow, it just made it more obvious to me that it is reel than real. I would expect something like that for a romcom but for this genre, they should have just gone all the way. For this kind of K-Drama, it is much better for the audience to feel the rawness of reality rather than be cushioned and deliver a fantasy. The accumulation of a lot of inconsistencies is what disappointed me with this K-Drama. Indeed it had a lot of great stuff but because of the blunders in details, it ruined for me to totally get on board and appreciate the entire story.

Would I recommend this K-Drama?
Yes
