My Review:

This is the K-Drama that I will officially change my format when I want to review a currently on going K-Drama that I am watching. I am writing “officially” because “unofficially” I’ve done that with Cheese In The Trap. That K-Drama literally changed something in me. Cheese In The Trap was the very first drama that I watched before it ended its run and it was so good, or so I thought, that I got extremely excited about it that I wrote and released a premature review. Doing a K-Drama & Film review maybe just a hobby for me but I never do things in half-measures and I never say or do something that will knowingly compromise my integrity. Thus, I decided that when I do a review for a K-Drama that is still showing, I will have a certain context of what I am reviewing.

At First Glance:
DOTS (Descendants of the Sun) ruined me to re-watch some of the K-Dramas I wanted to give a review now or watch other current romcoms while filling the void for the times I can be free and not feel the angst of waiting for Friday, the DOTS showing with English subtitle version. Thus, since, I don’t want not to enjoy another probably decent K-drama romcom like what’s happening to me while watching Come Back Mister as I can’t help but compare it with DOTS, I decided to watch a different genre from DOTS. From the choices currently being shown, there’s not much I would like to try. I was contemplating whether I should get into this Mrs. Cop 2 when Mrs. Cop 1 wasn’t that great to me. However, when I read that Mrs. Cop 2 will have a totally different set of actors, therefore, characters and saw Kim Bum will be on it, I thought to myself, what the heck, it won’t hurt for me to check out the first episode. I mean, if I don’t like it, no harm no foul. Well, surprisingly, I am now on Episode 7 and I am glad to say it is much, much, much better than the first one. Some people like the K-Drama because they love the actor, so, even if the K-Drama really sucks, they still love and recommend them to others but I don’t. I love Kwon Sang Woo but I will never recommend for you to watch Temptation. Some will recommend K-Dramas because of their own biases and ideology, but, again I don’t. I recommend base on the level of its entertainment value without the story obviously treating me like a moron while doing it. It is truly as plain and as simple as that. Having said that, Mrs. Cop 2 certainly has more entertainment value than Mrs. Cop 1. I like the characters of the story including the actors portraying them better than the original. I am glad Kim Hee-Ae turned it down to play for Mrs. Cop 1 and the rest of the actors follow suit. In a sense, it is quite unique because normally it is the second version that has to equal or surpass the original. At first glance, this K-Drama is much more interesting with a villain that I like looking at on the screen. It has very light feel to it and the case is quite compelling for me to move forward and see what’s next. So far, I am not regretting checking it out.

Comments:
Episode 1-7

1. Why the police procedures of K-Dramas in making the crime scene secure or even the manner they do things always somehow in the borderline of being unprofessional? How can the head of the crime scene investigator get and drink water found in the refrigerator of the crime scene area? How come they don’t even wear gloves when investigating a crime scene or the place of the suspect?
2. I’m really getting tired of the Karaoke scenes. I think almost all K-Dramas has a Karaoke scene. Is there a K-Drama that doesn’t have one? Let me know, I’m interested to find out.
3. I like the characters’ relationships with each other. I prefer Oh Seung Il and Shin Yeo Ok than previous ones, Min Do-Young and Lee Se-Won. I also prefer the exchanges of Go Yoon Jung and Park Jong Ho rather than the brooding relationship of Park Jong Ho and Choi Young-Jin. Even Bae Dae-Hoon and Kang Sang-Chul are a lot more amusing. More so the lead character played by Go Yoon Jung. Although, both the villains in the original version and Mrs. Cop 2 are of equal measure in making it gripping but Kim Bum certainly much better looking. I think it was truly a blessing in disguise that the previous actors didn’t do the Mrs. Cop 2.
4. I must mention that they finally got an actor, and a child even, who can actually speak English and in accent that is believable that he grew up in the States. Thank goodness! Lee Hyo-Je is definitely much better than the daughter of Mrs. Cop 1, Park Min-Ha, who is totally unforgettable.
5. Kim Bum as Lee Ro Joon effectively brings a whole new definition of scary psycho. He has improved a lot as an actor and made Mrs. Cop 2 much more entertaining to watch.

UPDATE:

I finally finished this K-Drama and I stand on my initial review that I liked this better than Mrs. Cop 1. I really prefer the character of Mrs. Cop here, Kim Sung-Ryung as Go Yoon Jung rather than the actress in the first Mrs. Cop. The action scenes on this K-Drama are much more exciting to watch. All the supporting characters were given moments to shine. There’s a scene between the character of Min Jong-Bum and Go Yoon Jung that’s quite effective in pulling my emotions. This is the scene outside the parking lot of the hospital. The actors delivered that scene brilliantly exposing raw feelings that affected me. If ever, this is one thing I won’t forget in this K-Drama. Oh Seung-Il, Shin Yeo-Ok, Kang Sang-Chul, Baek Jong-Sik, Bae Dae-Hoon and Park Woo-Jin have scenes that made their characters real. Generally one expects that the sequel or the second series of a movie or K-Drama is lesser than the original but this not the case here. This is more interesting than the original Mrs. Cop and icing in the cake here is Kim Bum. He delivered his psychotic understanding of how the world works with certain realism and notwithstanding he looks good even if he is the villain.  It made much better entertainment in my book.

Would I recommend this K-Drama?

Episode 1-7: Yes, but, if you want to try, you will not regret its entertainment value.

Episode 8-20: Yes and yes. A totally interesting crime K-Drama.
