My Review:

Lately, it is getting hard to find k-dramas that I anticipate to truly watch every episode. And, since, there’s not much romcoms that’s available which peaks my interest, I ended up watching this k-drama. This k-drama is okay to watch as it has a variety of legal cases interesting to see but still it didn’t assuage my craving for a k-drama that made me say wow.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) It is the first time I’ve watched L in a k-drama and as Im Ba Reun, he has brought his role into the story that as an audience will care.

(2) Initially, the story is quite dragging but, because of L, I sat through and waited for it to improve and allow the story to flow that will interest me. Thank goodness, it has vastly improved as the episodes progresses.

(3) I like some of the cases especially some are very apt nowadays like women’s rights, protection from discrimination, untoward work environment, sexual harassment and even assault.

(4) There are 3 supporting characters who stood out for me and made this k-drama bearable to watch besides L, Lee EliJa as Lee Do Yun, Ryu Duk Hwan as Jung Bo Wang and Sung Dong Il as Han Se Sang. They made the show more than 2 dimensional and brought comic relief to an otherwise mediocre k-drama.

(5) Like the OST.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
(1) The character of Go Ah Ra as Park Cha Oh Reum is a bit overacting in the episodes. She entrenched herself into almost all issues and react as if everything is personal but comes across false and fake. I don’t know why some people think it is endearing but there’s no sincerity felt in her acting, so, I don’t feel any connection with her flights on fairness and justice.

(2) I applaud the concern and empathy of Park Cha Oh Reum for the powerless, however, some of her reasoning are not even presented during the case. As judge, you can only base your decision on the evidences presented. Being impartial from the start and prejudicial to those who are rich are in itself unjust and unfair and against the very principles of justice even if it may seem to be wrong.

(3) Can’t a case be on appeal due to incompetence of the defense lawyer in Korea? On the last case, the defense counsel looks like an idiot and is not doing his job. Totally different from the questioning and leeway given to the high price lawyer of the NJ group case. I think portraying things like this with no proper court decorum gives an unfair view of the courts of South Korea. One would think that justice there doesn’t exist and this is apparent not only on this k-drama but in most legal k-dramas. It is like watching really a farce in the justice system there.

(4) There are some toilet antics I don’t much appreciate and really don’t find it funny.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? It’s okay but I won’t say you put it in your list for future to watch.
