My Review:

This is definitely a far cry from the typical romcom Korean movie I’ve ever seen. And, definitely for adults only. Both the topic and the nature of the film tackle a very adult subject. It is for people who can understand and empathized taboo things that conservatives may not want to utter or even discuss. But, I am a free thinker and I hope not a hypocritical person, so, I must admit I like this film with all of its flaws. It maybe slow pace for others and wonder what the main plot is and the meaning of the ending but this film at least made me think and ask questions about certain things necessary for a relationship to have the “live happily ever after”. I believe that the reason most women have this warped romantic idea on relationships is because most of us grew up in fairy tale stories like Cinderella and Snow White. But, if you deeply delve on these fairy tales most of the men in them are princes with the financial capacity to make their women happy. Don’t you think so? I know money is not the be all and the end all but it certainly makes the world go around, isn’t it? We may deny it and believe that love conquers all but this saying itself have a certain lie into it. When you are hungry and you see your children not having a home, love can certainly dwindle real fast. For most of our expression of love requires money. And, this film certainly tackle the notion if we can really just live for love or for money. This film also deal with sex. Relationships when it gets into trouble normally they say it starts behind the bedroom. Yeon-Hee certainly know what she wants in and out of bed. I also like the thought that there’s a film that provokes issues on women going for what they believe they want in life. Even at our modern times, women are basically judge on their morals. Which is truly something to think about as to why society made it different when it comes to men. This film raises so many thoughts in my head because it does present true issues on relationships without making excuses and ends it not neatly tied up in a red big bow of happiness. Although, normally I don’t like too realism in a film, but I believe I can make this my exception to my rule.

Would I recommend this K-Movie? Yes
