My Review:

There are very few K-Dramas that I like when the genre is action. Probably because it is either too heavy in drama or simply too typical in story. For quite sometime K-Drama or films like the revenge theme and after awhile of seeing the same things it gets tiring, so, unless it has a really good twist or my favorite actors are in it, I don’t normally get excited to go and watch it. As I’ve said I liked to be entertained not to get riled up for how many hours of watching and feel even bad about how evil humans are. I get to see that already in real life almost everyday, so, I prefer to get entertained and be inspired when I watch dramas and movies whether Korean or not. I am already so cynical as it is and I don’t want an additional affirmation to be so. I still prefer having hope than none at all. So, Healer K-Drama is quite refreshing. Although, it is action and there’s again the depiction of human’s evil spirit, it was tackled in an interesting manner that wasn’t too heavy for a gal like me who wants to enjoy rather be depress about life after watching it. It is the first time I watched Ji Chang-Wook drama or at least that I know of and took notice and I was glad I did. Healer is action-packed drama and quite engaging for me.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I like that the K-Drama was done in a fast-pace but in a thrilling manner. Quite suspenseful in certain episodes especially the elevator scene.
(2) I like the back story and how it was presented. It made me want to watch the next episodes to know the entire story.
(3) I like the actions scenes even if I prefer romcoms in K-Dramas. It provided just enough dose of making it different and thrilling. Plus, there’s some twists on the story I didn’t guess ahead of time which is quite refreshing because it adds into the suspense of the story.
(4) I like Ji Chang-Wook as he looks good as a healer. His job is quite interesting and exciting if that job does exists. I also like his side kick, Kim Mi Kyung as Jo Min-Ja. She actually gives character to the techy part of the scenes like the same characters I love in American series I watch such Criminal Minds and NCIS Los Angeles. Kim Mi Kyung gave life to her character that I believe quite engaging to the audience.
(5) What an OST! Wow! Besides Angel Eyes K-Drama OST, this is one K-Drama that took particular care of its soundtrack. It truly made a difference and became an integral part of the K-Drama as a whole.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I didn’t connect much with the leading actress, Park Min-Young. Although, I’ve seen her before in some K-Drama like one of my favorites, Sungkyunkwan Scandal and City Hunter, I somehow find her acting here quite bland.
(2) There are some actions scenes here that are quite impossible for Ji Chang-Wook’s character to be able to do no matter how fit you are unless you are an alien like Superman. But, I guess, I can forgive it for cinematic purposes. However, as I’ve mentioned before in my other reviews even if I am not particular in the technical part of the dramas or films I watch, I still want to be treated not like a stupid audience.
This is not a perfect K-Drama but its mistakes are mostly forgivable to the totality of entertainment it brings while you are watching it. This is what’s lacking in City Hunter. They are similar but this one is executed better and much more enjoyable.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes
