My Review:

I have mixed feelings on this K-Drama. Although, over all it is good but I can’t stand the hospital politics side of the story, so, I forwarded scenes regarding these stuff.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I like the spectacular acting of Joo Won as Park Shi Ohn. Every nuances of someone with developmental disability were very apparent in his actuations. I was able to stay and watch this entire K-Drama because of him. It is not because I swoon on his attractiveness as I usually feel with other Korean actors but because he was able to deliver his lines and message to be learned so brilliantly. As a disable person myself I can truly relate to some of the challenges he has to go through.
(2) I like the lessons delivered on each medical cases per episode. It is not more on the medical case but the normal human frailties that we do against others.
(3) I like the hope that the story delivers to people with disability. That one need not be hindered in becoming someone and reaching one’s dreams just because one is disable. I can speak for myself that although having a disability is truly a difficult challenge for me to achieve my goals in life but it is the state of mind and attitude that I was able to surpass these challenges. It is also very critical that one have support from family, friends and other people who will assist one to make one’s dreams a reality despite of one’s disability. Like Park Shi Ohn, he was able as well to cross the bridge of understanding that being different is not really bad. It is actually a gift depending on how one sees it and use it to be even better than the rest.
(4) I like the child actors. Totally impress with their acting.
(5) I also enjoy the OST of this K-Drama.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I don’t like the hospital politics side of the story. It bores me.
(2) I got to be honest, even if I like Korean Dramas and Entertainment as a whole, I don’t like most Koreans much as patients in my clinic. When I watched the initial attitudes of the physicians here in this K-Drama, I got to understand why I didn’t like them as patients. I don’t know if generally most of the Koreans are like that but in my experience I’ve encountered challenge in handling them and similar as shown on this K-Drama I can actually believe some of the despicable attitudes the characters showed to someone who is disable. However, I’m still quite surprised on the way the physicians initially treated Park Shi Ohn knowing pretty well his mental disability since they are doctors. I can understand that they will be resistant of him to become a surgeon but to shout and act like not knowing the limitations of one who have a mental disability is quite frustrating. They are even Pediatric surgeons for heaven’s sake.
(3) I think this is one of the weakness of Korean Dramas and Films, they are not very particular in details especially if the characters are above the regular and ordinary people. Like when they do surgery, it seems they only know a couple of names of medical instruments and terms. And, in brain surgery, there’s some particulars that needs to be done if one wants to make it believable. However, it is just probably me because I have a medical background but still they have to make an effort to make it more realistic especially if this is the theme of the entire K-Drama. Even if I only rate the K-Movies and Dramas based on the level of entertainment but it does get into my nerves when certain critical details are not given the proper effort.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes, it isn’t that bad.
