My Review:

I must admit I am a romcom gal at heart. And, generally, I already know by the 1st episode if this is the kind of romcom I would like. And, it is a nice surprise that this k-drama that I initially ignored turned out to be one of those romcoms I really like. It has interesting aspects that even on Episode 1 built up an interesting premise that hooked me up to move forward.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I have seen Choi Jin Hyuk in supporting roles before like “The Heirs” and this is the 1st time I’ve watched him in a leading role. His portrayal of Gong Ma Sung is quite good and, even though, he doesn’t make me swoon like Kwon Sang Woo or Song Joon Ki, he certainly give moments that he made me tingle especially his kissing scenes with Song Ha Yoon as Joo Gi Bbeum.

(2) Song Ha Yoon as Joo Gi Bbeum also give justice to her role. She’s quite dainty and have beautiful brown eyes. She certainly created certain chemistry with Choi Jin Hyuk that’s a pleasure to watch.

(3) I appreciate that the physical intimacy of the main leads are not awkwardly done and a kiss is really a kiss and they are given at the right moment and time.

(4) One of the things I like about how k-drama world works is their ability to use symbolism that’s in correlation with the story. Not only it provides additional info for me like for example the Mountain Coronate Saw Wort Flower used in this k-drama which means “Memories” but it also gives a certain layer of depth in the story.

(5) I like the OST.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

This k-drama is not flawless. It has little and big errors that could have been fix both by the director and the writer. An example of small errors is a fountain scene when they met again after Joo Gi Bbeum thought Gong Ma Sung is probably dead or not coming back. Gong Ma Sung is holding a diary and yet when they hug, that diary he’s holding is nowhere to be found. For huge mistakes, is the research of Gong Ma Sung’s mental condition, what the k-drama called “Cinderella Memory Syndrome”. It is similar to the condition of the character of Drew Barrymore in “50 First Dates”. But, unlike the US Film, there’s no characters in it who are in a medical field and it was never established as a factual disease. Of course, this k-drama can certainly invent a disease as well, however, since the main character is a neuroscientist and a genius to boot, it would have been nicer and realistic if the writer incorporated what is real about the disease, which is actually called Limited Retrograde Amnesia (LRA). LRA is a temporary loss of the ability to store new memories as a result of brain injury. The writer could have stuck to its real symptoms and created scenarios that reflects the truth of this mental condition and still make it interesting as conflicts rather than making up confusing symptoms to fit the story. Having said that, it is still a romcom and its errors though diminishes the k-drama’s quality still made it enjoyable for me to watch.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes
