My Review:

This K-Drama is the embodiment why I love K-Dramas and became an addict. It is not just all about jaw dropping yumminess of the actors but it is about when they do it right, they really do it right. I am a self-proclaimed romcom kind of a gal. I am not ashamed that I love chick-flicks but even a gal like me would like variety once in awhile. All the cheesy and romantic escapism I would like to have gets tiring to watch sometimes especially if I keep seeing same thing over and over again. So, once in awhile I go off course from my usual habits and delve into something different and Cruel City is certainly a different kind of flavor. This can definitely be watched with your partner and I assure you, you will both enjoy every second of it. Although the premise of Cruel City maybe simple but its presentation is totally a new ball game when you watch it. No words can described it better in order to make the synopsis more catching for you to watch without completely ruining it for you. And, I definitely hate spoilers unless I plan not to watch it or I am plainly just doing a research. So, I guess the things I can speak about this K-Drama will be limited in order for you to enjoy it fully when you watch it. Generally, I truly have difficulty on reviewing K-Dramas I love because most of the time I love them due to its twists and turns that I can’t write about in my blog unless I intend for you not to enjoy it anymore when you watch it. The thing about suspense and action genre are precisely that, the thrill you are supposed to feel when the drama or the film reveals it to you. All I can say as a whole that this K-Drama is everything an action and suspense K-Drama should be and probably even more.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I actually can’t justify by mere words why I love this K-Drama. jTBC definitely brought its A-game of producing one heck of a suspenseful K-Drama.
(2) The characters here are not cut out of card boards. The main characters have layers of complexities in them. Even the villains have certain goodness in them such as shown by the character Kim Hyun Soo.
(3) All the actors are brilliant. They deliver what is needed to deliver. I might say I am quite impress with Jung Kyung Ho. He is indeed quite a revelation on this K-Drama. The first time I saw him is in “My Name Is Kim Sam Soon”. His character there is quite an ass, sorry for being blunt. However, on this K-Drama, all I can say on him in his portrayal of his character is WOW.
(4) The manner in which this K-Drama was depicted is a showcase of excellence of the director, writers, actors and all its production staff. It didn’t only entertained me but made me feel the need to be at the edge of my seat because I don’t know what will come next.
(5) Even if the theme of this K-Drama is really dark and quite miserable that ruins my efforts in my need to once in awhile escape from my own realities of life, it was totally worth it. There are some K-Dramas that are dark in themes and tackles serious issues that makes me want to cringe because its delivery is even darker than the theme of the story to the point I rather not get into it but Cruel City is definitely an exception to my rule. It is something dark I can live with to watch. It doesn’t only makes me want to waste 24 hours of my life in an even darker world but it also gives me the entertainment I crave for in the process.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama? Even if there again some flaws I hate in police procedures, I can totally ignore them because this K-Drama is truly a genre of its own. So, the bottom line is there’s none I don’t like in this K-Drama.

Would I recommend this K-Drama?
Yes, 100% times over.
