My Review:

I always try to check the dramas shown at tvN because their K-Dramas are more often than not hits rather than misses to my taste of entertainment. Initially, I didn’t want to watch this show because I find younger K-Drama themes shallow nowadays. Guess, our preferences of what to watch and what we like do change with our age. However, I am surprised that I was entertained even if the storyline is nothing new and the conflicts have been tackled and shown in a lot of the K-Dramas before in varying degrees.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I found all the Kang cousins adorable and not bad in acting talents either. Including as well the fourth knight, Choi Min as Lee Yoon-Sung. Park So-Dam as Eun Ha-Won, the leading lady, is not bad either. I found them all personable, thus, they achieved to entertain me and make me care what happens to their characters.

(2) Although, some may find CEO Kang, unpalatable because of how social standing matters to him but, in a way, I can understand his principles. Unlike, other K-Dramas with characters of similar take on being snobbish to the poor and values social standing in marriage, his dialogues delivers certain truths in real life especially on a certain scene at the last episode when Eun Ha-Won was rolling his wheelchair and she is professing her love for Kang Ji-Woon to him. Love certainly is much easier to profess than proving it when life do gets hard and reality sets in.

(3) I love the architecture of the Sky House and the cinematography of the certain places where they shoot some of the scenes. It certainly adds to the romance of the story.

(4) I like the timing of the kissing scenes, grateful it is done when the event really justifies it. I’ve been sometimes frustrated with K-Dramas that ends up only with a hug when certainly a kiss is called for. I can understand the Korean’s conservatism especially for shows shown on regular channels but it sometimes looks ludicrous when the flow of the story truly justifies a kiss even a passionate one but ends up with a hug or a totally fake kiss. Although, this is shown on cable, the director was still able to make a fake passionate kiss to look real at least.

(5) I like that the flow and pacing of the story. It never really got boring and the production was able to sustain and make it still interesting up to the very end.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

There’s not much I do not like about the way this K-Drama delivered the story but there are some scenes that I find a bit stupid or illogic.

(1) Eun Ha-Won clothes in the first few episodes or for that matter, the lack of change of it. She rarely change her clothes in the beginning. She sleeps and wore it outside almost every single day. She probably smells already and yet the jogging suit remains crisp and clean. I wonder if she changes her undergarments.

(2) CEO Kang’s character was inconsistently written. For example, he marries women who are beneath him in social standing and yet he expects his children and grandsons to do it differently. I can understand if his principles or cynicism came from his experiences from his previous wives yet he married again someone of the same social standing as it was revealed on the last episode.

(3) I find it stupid that men tend to purchase clothes for women that can’t simply be used in everyday living especially on a storyline that calls for it. On this case, Eun Ha-Won needs a change of regular clothes rather than attires for special events which she doesn’t really need except probably for rare occasions. It is the same thing done in one of the scenes at the Legend of the Blue Sea. I mean, really now!?! It is such a blatant cliche or a way to advertise something.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes, even with its certain flaws, it is entertaining.
