My Review:

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

I like to balance the k-dramas I watched. If I have seen romcoms in succession, my brains craves for a thriller or suspense which is my next favorite genre after romcom. And, OCN is good in producing a genre of this nature. I didn’t make a mistake of choosing this one as it is disturbing, sad and edgy. Ingredients that makes a thriller works.

(1) I salute the leads of this k-drama especially Kang Ji Hwan as Chun Jae In. He was able to deliver his character with certain humor on an otherwise harrowing tale of corruption and greed. The entire thing would have been really heavy if not for his character.

(2) I must commend the quality of the supporting casts but mostly, 2 characters that brought me different emotions at different levels. Shim Hee Sup as Joo Ha Min and Ahn Kil Kang as Kim Ho Ki.

(3) This k-drama shows how circumstances and our choices define us as a person. We always say people always have a choice but there are really times we don’t. As I’ve mentioned in one of my reviews, I don’t believe that people are born good, for me, we are born selfish and in this life, our daily given situations will reflect our choices through our intent and reaction. Being selfish is not necessarily bad as it is in our mechanism to have self-preservation. It is how we achieve to protect our own defines whether what we did is good or bad.

(4) I would have better appreciation of this k-drama if the subtitle was done properly but I think this has something to do with the site where I am watching rather than the k-drama itself. Setting that aside, there are still some imperfections that causes disconnection to me as an audience.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

Although, I enjoyed this k-drama, it is far from perfect. I have frequently written in most of my reviews that what irks me the most is when I watched a detective and procedural dramas and the police acts the stupidest things when handling evidence or other procedures. Unfortunately, this k-drama is no exception. There are a lot of scenes in this k-drama that made my viewing pleasure less like when the crime scene is either blatantly contaminated by the actions of the lead character/s or even the supporting ones, or, when they just plainly disregarded the proper police procedure/s and make it just a given fact. I am also quite surprised when the suspects resisted arrest and still they are let go due to lack of evidence on the crime itself. Or, the house got burn but on the aftermath, the house looks the same. Or, even the way the last episode was done. What’s up with that? Are these really true reflections of how police procedures and implementation of the laws are done in South Korea? If not, then, when k-dramas do these improper scenes, they make a mockery of what is true and believable. It becomes a fantasy and are guilty of using too much of the artistic license.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes
