My Review:

I never liked watching a K-Drama while it is being shown because I hate waiting what will be next if I ended up loving the K-Drama. I like to binge out and do a marathon until I finish watching the film or drama that I enjoy. So, I rather wait until it is completed, however, I found myself making an exception three times now. One, because the actor, of course, is my love, Kwon Sang Woo. The second because the lead stars are So Ji-Sub and Shin Min-A. And, now the third, just because I want a relief over the weekend after a hard week. Much to my surprise, the first one, sucks, the second one is just okay but the third where I have no expectations has totally surprised me in a great way. It is very refreshing when the K-Drama that seems to be simple in its premise turns out to be full of layers and complexities that all I want to do is sit down and enjoy every minute of watching it because the director, the style of writing, the production staff and the actors have successfully built a drama that’s truly cohesive yet full of twists and turns. This is a K-Drama that I would totally recommend even after just watching 10 delightful episodes and still undone. So, unless they will ruin it in the ending, I can confidently say that this is going to be one of the best K-Dramas to watch for 2016.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) The highlight for me for this K-Drama is the character of Park Hae-Jin as Yoo Jung. His character is definitely not cut out of a card board box and with so much depth and mystery of who he really is. That element of he is not always what he may seems to be made this K-Drama totally loveable to watch. Park Hae-Jin totally nailed his character in delivering to me the desire to watch the next episode.
(2) I never like dealing with the technical aspect of the K-Drama when I am reviewing it but, my gosh, hats off to the director, Lee Yoon-Jung. He just directed and edited this K-Drama from a very ordinary story to something great. He reveals the back end stories in an effective manner that makes you understand the driving force of each characters yet remains suspenseful that you want more. He has executed this K-Drama spectacularly to become different and enjoyable in an otherwise typical and ordinary story line.
(3) There are so many layers for almost all the characters here in this K-Drama.
(4) It is never what you expect it. There’s always an element of surprise and the reveals are done wherein you are wondering which one is really true, hence, you want to watch what’s next.
(5) The OST is absolutely wonderful. It doesn’t stand out in as much it will distract you while watching the K-Drama but instead it adds more depth into the scene.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

There’s not much I didn’t like. If there’s one thing I will change if I can is the leading actress, Kim Go-Eun. Although, she can definitely act the character but that’s the problem, she’s acting. I read that she even turned down this role because of her schedule but the director arranged it so she can be the actress for this K-Drama. Honestly, I wish they’ve chosen someone else. Oh, well, maybe because she’s similar to the face of the webtoon character where this K-Drama was based on.

UPDATE:

There are 2 things I’ve done on this K-Drama that I’ve never done before, one, I did a review before I saw the ending and two, write an update. The first one, I thought, what could possibly drastically happen with the ending that will change my mind as to how I feel for this K-Drama? I mean it has gone so well, so, I figure nothing much the director can do and the production to blow it to smithereens, right? Oh boy, oh boy, was I wrong. The director and the editor have totally blown what a great drama that started so strong and then, ends, with my expression, what the hell? So, because they’ve totally ruined it, I have to write an update. I have no idea about the webtoons or its story or even the gossips that’s been going around about Seo Kang-Joon’s people trying to usurp the popularity of Park Hae-Jin. I couldn’t careless about all that but what I care about is why the hell did they massacre the ending? One, there’s nothing wrong with the character of Yoo Jung. In fact, he’s just protecting himself most of the time. And, I believe I know a lot of people worst than him who even prey on innocent people through their manipulative ways. He is just doing what he can in the midst of his environment. Then, to top it all, the people who actually did wrong became happy except those that matters to me or I believe the audience who are watching this. Of course, I’m all for being trying to be real but why that kind of ending? The focus is on other people except for the main characters, Yoo Jung and Hong Seol. Everybody got what they wanted except for the audience like me who have been waiting for a great resolution instead got a run of the mill and ultimate betrayal to what really is the character of Yoo Jung and the love of Hong Seol for him. Yeah, there are some great moments but it truly doesn’t make sense. Yoo Jung’s character is what makes it different and what makes it real wherein Park Hae-Jin, hats-off, truly understood the character and excellently delivered it. What happened to the director? He has shun away of doing what should have bee done. I am tired of pretentious crap and that ending is such. I’m just so really sad it ended as horribly as that and disintegrate what could have been a 2015-2016 best K-Drama I’ve seen.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Definitely, YES, 100%. UPDATE: From that, to just Yes.
