My Review:

I watched this k-drama because my housekeeper who’s been following this as it is shown in a dubbed version at a Filipino channel got addicted to it and keeps on hounding me to watch it. I was hesitant to watch it because the reviews I’ve read about it wasn’t that good and I really didn’t want to waste time of nonsensical k-dramas. But, as I’ve mentioned numerous times in most of my reviews that I also just don’t purely base my choice of watching k-dramas on ratings and reviews, so, after much thought, I delve into it.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) The premise of the story is quite interesting and there some scenes and scenarios that brought much entertainment to me while watching it.

(2) Nam Joo Hyuk as Ha Baek is good to look at and made watching him badly act on this k-drama a bit tolerable.

(3) I like Park Kyu Sun as Nam Soo Ri. He is so funny and gave a comic relief on this k-drama.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

Honestly, most of the reviews were correct, it is really quite horribly done but not totally a disaster because there are some interesting parts especially the first few episodes. Unfortunately, it went downhill from there and it didn’t help that the leads didn’t really bring a good performance to their roles.
I have watched Shin Se Kyung in “Black Knight” and like this k-drama, she’s one of those actresses that you can feel just really acting. She can act but it is just that “acting” and not totally immersed on her role that you will forget Shin Se Kyung, the actress, and see her character instead. Do you get what I mean? However, if you are a fan of Nam Joo Hyuk, you might still enjoy watching this k-drama even in the midst of its shallowness.

(1) The supporting characters and side stories are quite bland and didn’t help much to make it interesting.

(2) Some of the special effects are quite good but ironically when it comes to the water scenes like when they are swimming together underneath the water, which I believe is quite crucial since Ha Baek is the God of Water was quite obviously computer generated.

(3) There’s not much depth on the story that one can hang on and care as to what happens to some of the characters. So, after understanding quite a bit of the story and its conflicts, I just went straight to ending and skip most of the episodes. And, if there’s any questions in my head that I like to know why or what actually happened, then I just scan through some of the episodes to look for that particular scene/s that may give the answer to my question which is not that hard to find anyway.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Not Really.
