My Review:

I watched this k-drama because of the recommendation of one of my followers from my Instagram account @seoul_in_me. I read its reviews and I know from the start it is a melodrama, so, initially I was hesitant because currently I’m not in the mood for a melodrama genre. Plus, according to one of the reviews that it was quite good at first but they botch a bit in the middle and went back on track at the end. However, I like Han Ji Hye as an actress and after trying 1-4 episodes of Gentleman’s Dignity, Saimdang’s Diary, Solomon’s Perjury and Operation Proposal which I can’t seem to stick with, I decided what the heck…I should just try and see this, if it wasn’t that good I can always go back to the other dramas I mentioned. Quite glad I did as I not only finally found something that can sustain my interest over the first 5 episodes but it was really a very good melodrama.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) The main leads are quite excellent in portraying their roles. As usual Han Ji Hye has brought her A game but there’s a pleasant surprise from Yoon Kye Sang. He’s doesn’t have the typical good looks which sometimes helps me a lot to bear sitting through 16 to 24 hours marathon of watching, but, he certainly has the charm and talent that made up for his lack in the looks department. I appreciate him immensely on Episode 7 during his heartbreaking phone conversation with his grandmother. It was quite one very sad scene to watch but he excellently showed deep emotions that successfully tugged my heart and made me cry.

(2) I can’t help but love the fashion style of Han Young Won’s character here. Her looks and clothes depicts her character as a designer of class and taste. Love the clothes, bags and shoes!!! I’m a girl at heart no matter what I am doing, lol!!!

(3) For a melodrama and revenge theme, it wasn’t dragging nor boring. It has minimal side stories and were featured only to provide enhancement to the backend history of the main characters. I was also expecting it will derailed at the middle of its series but it wasn’t really the case. It was engaging even if for the most part it is tragically sad.

(4) I like the way the characters are consistent to who they are including not changing to be better just because one is on the brink of death. It is common that villains change their spots to tie the story in a big red bow for a happy ending but this one stuck to its gun in maintaining the honesty of each characters especially Han Tae Oh.

(5) I like the OST especially The Full Sun by Yangpa

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

For a melodrama, it was one of the very good ones I’ve seen. It wasn’t too heavy nor light, it was just right. If there’s one gripe is that the ending came too quick and the faces of the characters never changed after 3 years except there’s 1 additional character to the story which was a bittersweet for the story of Park Kang Jae.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Definitely Yes
