My Review:

I’m beginning to like k-dramas produced by OCN even if they don’t cater for the market of romcom gals like me. OCN gives a different flavor to suspense thrillers, action, horror and legal dramas. Most of what I’ve watched from OCN were engaging and at the same time entertaining. The stories are different and made these k-dramas interesting to watched. “Watcher” is of the same cloth and delivered as expected.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I have watched 3 k-dramas of Seo Kang Joon and, even though, he is good looking and quite good as an actor, I have not seen him done a k-drama that I can say I like until now. Finally, he found a project that makes sense and more realistically suitable to the talent that he can still develop to become an even better actor than he is now. On this k-drama, I got to appreciate his talent.

(2) I like that the story continues to make me guess who’s the main culprit. It had twists and turns that made it truly suspenseful to watch.

(3) Han Suk Kyu as Do Chi Kwang and Kim Hyun Joo as Han Tae Joo were quite good. Their portrayal of their characters’ inner conflicts were very effective that made me keep on guessing on their ulterior motives and intent. They are not one dimensional characters that made the story of this k-drama work.

(4) This Korean drama raises the question of what’s righteous and how justice should be rendered in a corrupt and challenging society especially those who were supposed to serve and protect its people like the police and the prosecution office. It bears the argument of what’s the line we shouldn’t cross in order for justice to truly serve.

(5) The supporting actors, the director, writer and its entire production staff did a great job of delivering a k-drama that’s apt with the times. Even if it is violent and deals with crimes. It served its genre well and reached my expectations as an audience watching it.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

Although, it is sometimes difficult to follow because there are a lot supporting characters and the plot of corruption is quite hard to process due to I am dependent on the English subtitle, but, all in all, this K-drama is worthy to spend 16 hours of my life.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes
