Synopsis:

Kang Woo Hyun is a well-respected and famous news broadcaster who is about to retire to spend some time with his wife and son. He and his family went to the mountains to spend bonding time together and celebrate he and his wife’s 10th wedding anniversary. It started well enough until their son disappeared in a cafe lodge and all went haywire from there. The investigation of Kang Woo Hyun’s case fell into the hands of Detective Go Dong Kook who is about to retire in a month’s time. He used to be revered as a detective of the precinct and known for being excellent at his job until his son was killed. Detective Go Dong Kook got interested on the case because of his inadvertent history with Kang Woo Hyun but got deeper into it due to the questionable death of Detective Bae Nam-Soo during the investigation. What seems to be a case of a missing wife and son became even more complicated and harrowing with the revelations of an underlying case being connected to it and being investigated by a profiler, Detective Yoon Seo Young. My Review:

Song Seung Hun is one of my favorite k-drama actors. He gets into projects that are interesting to watch. When I watched this k-drama, I was in a funk of not finding a good romcom k-drama except “Encounter” that’s still currently airing. I need to watch something that’s already done and need not to wait until the next episode. So, I stumble upon “Trap” and decided to watch it because of Song Seung Hun. I wasn’t expecting much but, alas, I was totally surprised on how exciting it was. It reminded me of “Bad Guys” but brought its own unique brand through its characters and manner the story was presented.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

Honestly, this is one of those k-dramas I watched not expecting much of anything. I got interested with the premise and the genre plus having enough of really nonsensical romcoms and k-dramas that don’t really bring any new to the table. I figure 7 episodes means 7 hours only of viewing that if it sucks, I can always just skip it altogether. But, alas, in my pleasant surprise, it is one of the best k-drama I’ve seen on its thriller’s genre.

(1) Lee Seo Jin as Kang Woo Hyun and Sung Dong Il as Go Dong Kook were spectacular in this. They may not be the popular actors one may follow but, holy cow, for being that great in doing their characters. It doesn’t matter that they are not hallyu stars because in my humble opinion they brought the house down for being excellent in this k-drama

(2) My synopsis of what is this all about didn’t give justice to the real story. I tried very hard not to divulge too much because the beauty of this k-drama are its suspense and unpredictability from start to finish. The writing is superb and the director was able to bring justice to its script. I was just supposedly going to watch 1 episode and then, have a good night sleep but I ended up finishing the entire 7 episodes in 1 go. I simply can’t not know what will happen next.

(3) The supporting actors are also in their A game and the villains are as sinister as they come. They are simply pure evil hiding on a sheep’s cloth. The entire cast made it work and created one of the best k-dramas I’ve seen for a long time.

(4) I love that it wasn’t that long, so, the pace was just right and there’s no need for unnecessary fillers and side stories.

(5) OCN did a good job of really delivering great stories of this genre like this on a small screen. Hopefully, there’s a possibility of another season.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

In all honesty, there’s none. For me, it was simply perfect. It had kept me at the edge of my seat and it’s like a gift that keeps on giving when it comes to thrill and surprising twists and turns of the story

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Definitely 110% Yes.
