My Review:

I initially watched this K-Drama because it was recommended several times in most of my favourite drama blog site reviews. I didn’t want to at first because I want to be entertained rather than be reminded of real life, but, as the saying goes “curiosity kills a cat” so to speak, so, I checked it out. The more than half of its episodes was excellently written and it totally captured my interest as even though the topic has been done several thousands over, the director was able to present it in a way that captured my interest on what will happen next. Unfortunately, it went downhill on the last few episodes especially the last 2 which I really got me upset because this could have been one of the best or even the best well written k-drama about this typical and cliche topic of infidelity. For some unknown reason/s, the writer and the director had lost their marbles and created an open ending which rendered most of the previous actions of the characters especially Ji Sun Woo, nonsensical. It ended in a dud which was truly disappointing after all the greatness it has shown to tackle the indeed world of being married.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I have watched Kim Hee Ae in “Mrs. Cop” and “Secret Affair” and like a veteran actress that she is, she has done a great job on this k-drama as well. In fact, I preferred her here on this k-drama than the “Secret Affair” which was also very popular when it was being shown on air. She was able to express the essence of her character embroiled in making decisions between what is right that’s not making her happy and what’s wrong that can make her happy.

(2) Park Hae Joon as Lee Tae Oh also did a splendid job in portraying a man who wants his cake and eat it too. His clueless demeanour on what he did wrong and his slow understanding of the repercussions of what he did emanates on the screen. Even with all his flaws, he was able to successfully show why women fell for him hard and why he is the way he is.

(3) The supporting cast has done well too but I felt Lee Moo Saeng as Kim Yoon Ki was not utilised properly.

(4) Even with the wayward ending, I must still salute the initial brilliance of the director and writer on how they presented this k-drama with a common topic and made it still look fresh and different. The first 6 episodes will truly capture an audience to stay put and tune in. All the characters are flawed and it showed the intense pain and difficulty a couple goes through the disintegration of their love and marriage. It actually reminded me of the US Film “The Marriage Story”, it was done real and raw.

(5) This k-drama didn’t include fantasy and other frills to make it work to a lot of audience and married people especially those who’ve been married for a long time and those who failed can really relate to the journey and issues presented on this k-drama because it was done not in a boring and taxing way.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

This could have been a perfect k-drama if the writer and the director didn’t mess up the last 2 episodes. It was like they have no idea how it should properly end and were in a bind on how it can be presented to be hopeful and happy, so, they compromised and not in a good way. I personally don’t mind open-ending k-dramas, but, this is one of those that one can really get irritated because it destroyed what could have been a brilliant presentation of a story that’s real and majorly fabulously presented. It was a big disappointment to say in the least. For me, it wears me out when this happens because you felt you’ve been suckered in and wasted 16 hours of your life that you can’t bring back.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes, just create your own ending.
