My Review:

I watched this film because I’m a fan of Son Ye-Jin. She’s one of the very few korean actresses I really like. Not only that she’s beautiful but such a great actress as well. She does projects that’s not always something you wanna watch to have a good feeling afterwards but you watch it because of the quality of the story and her ability to show depth to her roles. The characters she portrays are so diverse and effective that I can’t help but watch her films and dramas. I watch them not for entertainment sake but to see an exhibit of her talent for the art of acting. And, this film certainly featured exactly that.

So, What do I Like About this K-Movie?

(1) Son Ye-Jin as Kim Yeon-Hong is exceptional on this film. I can’t help but feel in awe of her talent. No wonder she won all the major awards for this film.

(2) Initially, I was a bit detach with the story as I have seen this plot before but it became better as it progresses and got totally surprise of what’s really the truth beneath its plot. The title of the film is truly very apt. It is a rare occurrence that I get totally engage when I am detach at the beginning.

(3) The actors are superb. They have brought into life a great script.

(4) Although, this is far from the romcoms I love to watch and I often avoid films that deals with harsh realities of life but this one was worth it. I felt the raw emotions of each and every character and made the revelation of the truth to have more impact.

What I do Not Like About this K-Movie?

There’s not a thing I can honestly say that’s flawed in this film. If I was initially detach in the beginning, it is probably sometimes the unfortunate effect of getting lost in translation. Reading subtitles rather than really understanding the nuances of the actual language used reduces more often than not the ability of a foreign audience like me to fully appreciate what’s happening.

Would I recommend this K-Movie? A resounding Yes
