My Review:

When I first heard that Doctor Romantic will have a second season I got truly excited. The first season is one of my favorite medical k-drama that I’m so glad the producers decided to do a second season. Although, I was kinda sad to read that not all original characters will come back, but, I figure, it will really be hard to do so as in Season 1 most of the lead characters’ stories kinda already have an ending and it will be difficult to top that.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) It is nice that Doctor Romantic has a second season and even had most of the original cast in Season 1 to come back and portray interesting characters for the continuation of the story and events at Doldam Hospital.

(2) Han Suk-Kyu as Teacher Kim as usual gave a special unique flavor on his character to share his wisdom not only as being a doctor but being a human being in this world. He imparts so many teachings and one of my favourites is when he said, “We can’t get things right all the time. But, don’t give up asking why we live and what we live for. The moment you do that, our romance ends as well”.

(3) The medical cases remain to be interesting especially for someone like me who is in the health industry because they present the cases with human stories and backdrop.

(4) The supporting cast also did well and even the new ones that joined in Season 2. It also expounded more on the stories of other characters in Season 1 such as Nurse Park Eun Tak and Jung In-Soo.

(5) The most touching part of the entire drama series is the case of President Yeo Woon-Young. His wish to pass away with dignity and in his own terms hit my heart as it is also the way I want to go in this world.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

It wasn’t as exciting as Season 1 and the new lead characters, Lee Sung-Kyug as Cha Eu-Jae and Ahn Hyo-Seop as Seo Woo-Jin in comparison to Yoo Yeon-Seok as Kang Dong-Joo and Seo Hyun-Jin as Yoon Seo-Jung are not as compelling in their story and as a pair. In fact, I watched only the first 8 episodes and just browse to Episode 9-13. Even by doing that, I can still understand what happened and the stories behind the events. Sometimes great things should remain as is, so, even if Season 2 made me excited, I expected too much and it fell flat to reach the level of my expectations.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? It’s Okay.
