My Review:

Like everyone else who is addicted to watching dramas and films, we end up having favourites especially when it comes to actors and actresses. Thus, I got interested in watching this K-Drama because of Lee Sang-Yoon whom I find simply divine as an actor not to mention easy in the eyes. He seems to have a quiet depth and higher level of sensitivity in which he tackles every role he takes such as in Angel Eyes and Liar Game and this drama, it wasn’t an exception which ultimately I appreciate. While Kim Ha-Neul is also quite a great of an actress. It is a partnership that bounds not to fail. However, it seems to lack something for me. Just like the Secret Love Affair where a lot of drama critics love, but I don’t. Having said that, this K-Drama is not as bad as I felt with the Secret Love Affair wherein it bored my skull to death and it was so melancholic and dark that I just want to get it over with. At least this K-Drama have more good moments that I do enjoy especially when the characters, Choi Soo-Ah and Seo Do-Woo are together.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I like watching Lee Sang-Yoon for he is not only easy on the eyes but an immensely talented actor. He is the reason why I was able to remain awake especially as boredom creeps on me due to the super slow flow of the story. Guess, this K-Drama wants the audience to feel and appreciate the journey that are happening between the two leading characters.

(2) There are several great moments of emotions between Choi Soo-Ah and Seo Do-Woo that were delivered with such simplicity yet heartbreaking especially on the scene where Seo Do-Woo accidentally saw Choi Soo-Ah with her husband. This scene reminded me of something similar to the scene of one of my all time favorite American film starring Meryl Streep and Clint Eastwood, The Bridges of Madison County.

(3) I like the symbolisms used on this K-Drama such as the airport. Airports is a place where people come and go yet it can provide us feelings and experiences that greatly affects us because of either the anticipation or trepidation of our final destination. So similar to the journey of the main characters. As the saying goes, life is not about the destination but the journey we take to reach there.

(4) I like the OST. It is not obtrusive and adds emotions to the scenes.

(5) I like the cinematography and the beautiful backdraft to set the mood of the story.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I find the story development too slow. It is really like watching the life of a person in real time.

(2) I understand the difficulty of trying to find a way to stop a lonely relationship with someone especially if one is married. I also understand that extra marital affairs are judge and frowned by many people especially in a conservative society. So, it is only critical for the director to present the dilemma of the 2 main characters and make the audience appreciate and sympathised with them, so, it can be acceptable or at least tolerable to the probably majority righteous audience but what I can’t simply understand fully is Choi Soo-Ah’s character. I understand she’s a mother above any thing else thus she needs to sacrifice her life but even her own daughter gets it, so, why stay in such a relationship when divorce is legal in Korea? I just find her conflict too shallow that one will decide that it is better to have an affair rather than end your marriage first. After all, she’s financially independent as well.

(3) It is also quite difficult to understand and empathized with the character Kim Hye-Won. I know they are trying to build up the suspense on the mystery of what makes her tick. But, honestly, the character simply just irritates me.

(4) There’s just something lacking that I can’t place my finger on why it failed to make me fully connect with the emotions and get engage with the story. In the end I feel like it is any other typical story of couples I’ve seen in so many dramas who fell in love at the wrong time.

Would I recommend this K-Drama?
