My Review:

I don’t normally go for Korean sageuk dramas because I can’t seem to connect with them. It is not because the stories are flawed but it just makes me fall asleep like Jewel In The Palace, that was such a hit and everyone loves it. I like it too but it is like a never ending episodes and too long for my cup of tea even if the story is probably wonderful. I just didn’t get to appreciate it because after awhile I just snooze. However, a lot has changed from 15 years ago to now. I developed a certain taste of sageuk in Sungkyunkwan Scandal but it is still not something I will look for or get too excited about until this 2016. What’s ironic they are being shown both at the same time and fighting head to head when it comes to ratings. One of that K-Drama is this K-Drama. It is like watching Coffee Prince (which is one of my all time favorite romcom K-drama) but in sageuk. It is engaging and I don’t notice the time passing as I watch it. Have you ever get the feeling that time is too short when you are having fun and too long when you are in a shitty place, well, the former is definitely where I am while watching this K-Drama.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I already like Park Bo-Gum as a villain in Remember or Hello, Monster but, in this K-Drama as Lee Yeong, he simply blossom as a future hallyu start. He looks good and can definitely act. He is like Song Joong-Ki with boyish charms and can make you feel his thoughts even without uttering a single word. He totally made this K-Drama such a delightful thing to watch.

(2) There’s no dull moment and the delivery of the story is light with such interesting stuff to be fascinated about from beginning of Episode 1. Even with the political bickering that I normally find boring became an intricate fabric of why the plot becomes engaging to me.

(3) The rest of the other casts are great including the leading lady, Kim Yoo-Jung. They definitely brought their A-game to make this K-Drama not be a snooze fest for me.

(4) The way homosexuality issue was handled on this story is done so sensitively. It is not even about sexual preference but just simply an issue of loving someone regardless if the person is of the same sex. Of course, it does help that Hong Ra-On for real is a woman instead of a man.

(5) The story was more really as a love story with interesting sub-plot to make it not boring. It was well written and provide such a delight on every episode that I watched. And, the OST brings life and emotions to the story

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
There’s really nothing I do not like on this K-Drama. It is just simply perfectly done.
