My Review:

I have some Korean dramas that I watch initially because of the actors in them. It is often a method I used in choosing what to watch base from experience in the assumption that most of the time veteran actors or even popular ones accept scripts that are worth their salt to perform, therefore, worthy for me to waste my time to watch them. Unfortunately, though, this K-drama looks initially seems to be promising but there’s a missing ingredient for me to enjoy it. It is lack lustre and this is the 2nd time that I watched a Lee Joon Ki K-drama that simply didn’t work at the level of entertainment I do enjoy and that’s in my humble assessment. Hope there won’t be a third time.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) Lee Joon Ki truly has the talent in acting and, although, this may not be his best performance as Bong Sang Pil, this k-drama became enjoyable because of him.

(2) I like the camaraderie among the people who works at Lawless firm. They really join forces to support and protect each other.

(3) Of all the characters in this K-drama, the one that did shine for me is Lee Hye Young as Cha Moon Sook. She totally delivered excellently her two face character.

(4) I enjoyed the fight scene between Bong Sang Pil and Ahn Oh Joo on Episode 15. It was well coordinated and interesting to see. I like that Ahn Oh Joo’s character was true to his form till the end.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

(1) This is like a comedy slash action slash legal genre. It is hard to take it seriously because of some of the ridiculous ways it was written with the probable intent to take the serious edge off from the story. There are times it works but most of the time, I just got into it because it amuses me and not because it’s a good directorial style I appreciate to see on this kind of genre.

(2) This is one of the k-dramas that I am having a difficult time thinking what I do like, although, it really didn’t totally suck. I was only able to watch it all the way because this is one of the few k-dramas that I started watching while currently being shown on TV in South Korea otherwise I wouldn’t probably be able to stand doing a marathon on it. I finished it because I just wanted to see how the Lawless firm gets Cha Moon Sook and her gang of corrupt officials.

(3) How can a judge act like a prosecutor and call a witness on her own when the defendant claimed the judge is the master mind of the crime? There’s no swearing of some of the witnesses? How can a lawyer reveal and testify against his previous client regarding their own transactions? What about attorney-client privilege? Or, a lawyer being into doing an obvious illegal transactions on behalf of his client and won’t be charge in cahoots with his own client? These are the things that goes through my mind while watching the court case on the last few episodes. It seems really fictional unless this is really the way a courtroom case is being handled in South Korea. It seems implausible to me.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? It is okay.
