My Review:

I’m not a fan of adaptations but once in awhile the adaptation is even better than the original. This K-drama is one of those adaptations that was delivered well and even better than the original. It was surprisingly good.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) Ji Jin Hee as Park Moo Jin was brilliant in his role here. He encapsulated all the emotions he was going through even in scenes that don’t need words. He was as good as Keifer Sutherland who was playing the role of the President in its US original version. He was able to made the character in his own unique style and effectively reflect his challenges as the designated survivor and suddenly be the President of South Korea.

(2) I actually enjoyed this K-drama than its US original version. I’m in awe on how the director and writer was able to spin this off and made it truly their own and not a copycat.

(3) The production was high quality and made the disaster so real. The special effects and the way they did the set to make the audience feel the story of what’s happening were impressive. It kinda made me proud that I’m Asian and that we are capable to do almost the same or even better films and TV programs than Hollywood with big budget to produce them yet some stories still leave you cold.

(4) The supporting cast did their thing and made Ji Jin Hee’s character as Park Moo Jin shines. They were able to enhance the delivery of the story episode by episode.

(5) Even though the story is similar to the US counterpart, I still felt like I’m watching it for the first time. It also shows the main talent of Korean productions, their ability to make you feel the emotion rather than be visual about it.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

Honestly, depending on how you look at it, I for one have not seen something that I can complain about on this k-drama. After watching both the US and Korean versions, both are great, and are able to bring an audience a TV show worthy to waste your time on.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes
