My Review:

I like Uhm Jung-Hwa’s taste when it comes to the films she makes. She doesn’t go much for cutesy romcoms but delve more on current relevant adult topics and films that shows women’s assertiveness in regards to having choices in life. I’ve watched her in Marriage is a Crazy Thing and just like that movie, this one is almost of the same tone, although, relatively showing lesser sexual scenes. If you want to debate on morality regarding the choices of the characters of the film you can certainly do so, as this film will definitely prick the nerves of those who are righteous. However, I refuse to review this film base on its morality issue. I have to say, though, that I don’t condone illicit affairs by married people but I can certainly understand and even empathized why one maybe driven into these choices after being with your partner for such a long time. Marriage is not truly an easy thing. It takes two people to be able to work on it successfully. So, this film brings you to the thought of whether to stay together or be apart once you are not happy anymore in your marriage. This is even more crucial if there are children involved. Thank goodness the couples here don’t have kids, although, it raises the issue of having children to save a marriage. Swapping partners maybe a blasé subject for western culture but in the Asian world it is still very scandalous particularly if the woman will be doing it. We are still living in a man’s world down here, where men are most often than not forgiven or even expected to have these indiscretions. So, having a film wherein the women are able to make decisions base on what they think is right for them and not what other people will think of them is quite something especially in the society we live in. That message in itself is what I love on this film because I often get tired of views regarding making decisions thinking more of what others will say rather than what one truly wants and will make one happy. Albeit, this decision happens to be having an extra marital affair. But, still, what do we really know what one feels until you’re in it, so, who are we to judge?

Would I recommend this K-Movie? Most definitely, yes.
