My Review:

OCN has most of the time produced great action k-dramas and slightly away from typical commercial productions. It caters to those who wants something different especially in criminal, action and sci-fi genre. I must admit they are quite successful in doing that. Unfortunately, rarely that their k-dramas are appreciated as it should. This k-drama is one of those that highly deserved such appreciation. This is an underrated k-drama that’s full of action one can enjoy to the fullest and best shared for those who doesn’t like k-dramas because of what they considered to be cheesy romcoms and heavy dramas.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) This k-drama reminds me of the film Con Air by Nicolas Cage in 1997. Although, they are not totally the same but certain similarities on its premise made me remember it. And, like I enjoyed watching Con Air, I also enjoyed watching this. What’s even better is that it only runs in 11 episodes, thus, you can do marathon of watching it without the edgy feeling of when it is going to end as you’ve been in it for 16-24 hours already. It removes the guilt of you wasting time watching a k-drama when there’s still a lot of things to do in your real life.

(2) The actors are so good especially Park Hae Jin. I must admit I’m bias to him. I think he’s one of the rare k-actors who can play any role whether the villain or not and still can project depth to his role. He has this versatile quality. There’s another actor, that I was drawn to, Jo Dong Hyuk. He’s so believable in the character he portrays and definitely not a bad looking bloke.

(3) The fighting scenes were so well choreographed especially on Episode 7 between Jung Tae Soo and Park Jong Suk.

(4) The truth behind the killings is quite surprising and its revelation was so exquisitely executed that it provided an OMG moment for me. The plot I’ve stated above is simplified so it will not ruin for you the real suspense of this k-drama.

(5) It doesn’t have useless scenes and subplots that makes you feel restless of its significance.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

It is always my contention for criminal and procedural k-dramas on how they handle crime scenes and evidences, unfortunately, this k-drama is the same. How can the crime scene not be preserved in the rain and allow others to touch the body even in autopsy? I can understand that they feel for the bereaved relative/s but again there’s no control in the handling and preservation of the evidence, thus, the possibility of securing the evidences and making sure you get the right criminal becomes nil. Every time I watch such genre and this is what I see, I sometimes question if this is the same in real life in how the police handles this kind of stuff. If so, then, there’s great possibility that a lot of people imprisoned in South Korea are probably innocent and convicted base only in circumstantial evidences that can be clearly disputed by a botch handling of the crime scene and evidences.

Having said that, this k-drama has excellently done a quality k-drama for its genre and has shown why my contention to be relevant in the end. Assuming people to be guilty without irrefutable evidence is always important no matter how we deemed to be sure that the person is really guilty.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes, definitely.
