Synopsis:
Jin-Seok is a 21 year old boy in 1997 suffering from anxiety and idolises his brother, Yoo-Seok, who’s been very successful in everything he does until he had an accident that caused him to limp. He, his brother and his parents is moving in to their new home. He was quite agitated with his studies and curious with the mystery room that the old owner of the house requested for them not to open as the old owner left private things inside. One night as he gets his bout of anxiety attack, he and his brother went out for a walk, but, the most unexpected thing happened, his brother got kidnapped. For 19 days he was so distressed about his missing brother when Yoo-Seok suddenly came back to them alive but, suffering from selective amnesia of what happened to him. Jin-Seok after several days noticed changes from his brother and decided to investigate the truth. However, the truth is something that may destroy him and his life.

My Review:
I watched this Korean film because of Kang Ha-Neul. He is one of my favourite Korean actors as when he acts there’s depth into it and he is very diverse when he chooses his projects. I was also curious about the plot of the story and I’m a sucker when it comes to suspense thrillers that gives me a variety outside my love for romcoms.
So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?
(1) Unsurprisingly, Kang Ha-Neul did a fantastic job portraying Jin-Seok. He successfully portrayed the struggle and the different emotions of Jin-Seok as he goes about discovering the truth.
(2) The supporting casts were great as well and kudos to Kim Moo-Yul as Yoo-Seok and Na Young-Hee as their mother. They were splendid in their roles and made the delivery of the story even better.
(3) I was taken aback with the secret of what’s really going on. I couldn’t even guess what’s the deal until the actual time the director really wants the audience to know. The film was able to really reel in the essence of a suspense genre.
(4) I’m in awe of the writer, Jang Hang-Jun, as he was able to conceptualised a convoluted story and made it logical in the end.
(5) The pacing of the story was great and was able to retain its unpredictability and justify the foregone conclusion.
What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
There’s really nothing much I didn’t like about this film even if the extent of what one of the characters did to know the truth is quite extreme and a bit unbelievable, but, as I’ve mentioned the writer was still able to give justification and made sense of it all.
Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes.
