My Review:
After a 2 year hiatus of Ji Chang Wook due to military obligations, I can’t wait to see him in a project. I was curious of what kind of k-drama he will do first after being gone for quite a long period of time. Thus, it’s a given that I will watch this.
So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?
(1) Ji Chang Wook didn’t look any different since he’s been gone for 2 years. He is still good looking and flawless both in the physique and acting department. He made any scene romantic by just his smile and he was able to bring the character, Ma Dong Chan, to life. A director who doesn’t go with the flow and create shows that can make a difference and change life a little better.
(2) I felt connected with the romantic love story of Ma Dong Chan and the now older Na Ha Young. I can emphatized the heartbreak felt by Na Ha Young especially in the hotel scene. I really felt for her even if she made a mistake when she was younger to choose her ambitions over doing what’s right.
(3) I like how the friendship among Ko Mi Ran, Oh Young Sun and Park Kung-Ja has evolved in time. You can clearly see the difference of their issues between their younger and older selves, but, at the same time reflects that no matter what age you are, you are still sometimes clueless on how to solve your problems and still do make mistakes.
(4) I find Choi Bo-Min as Hwang Ji-Hoon charming and can give Ji Chang Wook a ran for his money when it comes to attractiveness.
(5) I like that Ko Mi Ran’s character doesn’t only revolve about being in love with Ma Dong Chan. That even if she’s in love, she also love herself enough to know that she needs to grow as an individual and be successful on her own right.
What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
The story was interesting enough and the chemistry between the leads made the romance entertaining, however, there’s something bland about the entire k-drama that I can’t put my finger on it. Even Ji Chang Wook with all of his charm and looks seems to be more acting the part than being the part. Anyway, the bottom line is, it was a good romcom slash sci-fi in comparison to the last few romcoms that I’ve seen and some dropped watching with big stars on it. I just wish that Ji Chang Wook 1st project after his military stint is an action k-drama like “Vagabond” than this.
Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes
