My Review:
I watched this k-drama because I like the lead actors plus I got a bit curious about what’s so special about this story. I have seen a lot of k-dramas already dealing with work and politics in the hotel industry but, alas, indeed, this k-drama offers something interesting and different.
So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?
(1) IU has grown as an actress every time I watch her on her k-dramas. Although, she received a lot of flack on “Scarlet Ryeo”, I find her charming and not that bad as an actress. There’s something in her that makes you, as an audience, want to watch her. As Jang Man Wol, she was able to depict the character to a “T”. She has made her role not two dimensional. I thoroughly enjoyed her acting on this k-drama and this k-drama became worthy to watch with her in it.
(2) I have always thought Yeo Jin Goo as one of the best Korean actors of his time. He has depth and excellently delivers his roles almost all of the time. On this k-drama, as Goo Chang Sung, he was no different. More so, he successfully built a chemistry between him and IU as the lead main characters.
(3) This is one of the k-dramas wherein the supporting casts and their stories truly made a k-drama story worthwhile to watch as they all added to the mystery and beauty of the story. They are not just there to lengthen the drama but really enhances it.
(4) The stories of the characters are so touching. While some were truly sad but in the end became inspiring with lessons learned. The stories were endearing, so, kudos to the writer.
(5) This k-drama is one of those k-dramas of the year that I can highly recommend as it has everything in it yet the director and production perfectly blended the different genres into one cohesive story to be enjoyed by the audience. The talent of production of this k-drama is that they were able to romanticised something that’s actually kinda tragic.
What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?
Although, I love this k-drama, it is not that perfect as there are some situations given about Jang Man Wol’s situation that kinda contradicts and defies logic reasoning. But, I ended up forgiving them as an audience because, in the end, it didn’t reach to the level as muddle up as the story of the ever popular “Goblin” k-drama, which, I’m sorry for its fans, I thoroughly found a waste of time.
Would I recommend this K-Drama? Yes, Definitely.
