Terius Behind Me

Synopsis:

Kim Bon is a NIS agent in Black Ops with an operative code name Terius. After a failed mission, he went to hiding to search for the truth of what happened especially after losing someone he loves. He met by happenstance Go Ae Rin, housewife, mother of twins and wife of Cha Jung Il, who works in a publishing company. Go Ae Rin would have been like any other neighbour for him until Cha Jung Il died and somehow his death is mysteriously related to the case he’s been trying to investigate. He ended up being Go Ae Rin’s nanny for her children and his life suddenly got mesh to hers.

My Review:

So Ji Sub is one of my all time favorite k-drama actor, so, of course, I won’t be able to pass this k-drama up especially since its plot seems to be interesting too. From the start, it reminded me of “Kindergarten Cop” movie of Arnold Schwarzenegger and it seems to be following its premise. It has a blend of serious but also comedic situations that diffuses both and created a light and entertaining spy k-drama that’s enjoyable to watch.

So, What do I Like About this K-Drama?

(1) So Ji Sub is undeniably one of the best Korean actors. He brings his A-game in every project he does and even if the material may not even be at par to his excellent talent, he still successfully delivers his work.

(2) Although I’m not too familiar with Jung In Sun as an actress, she still portrayed Go Ae Rin’s character as it should.

(3) Unexpectedly, I believe more the acting of the actors portraying the villains here made the story more realistic and entertaining rather than the rest of the supporting casts. They provide more credibility to the story than the rest.

(4) The mixture of seriousness and comedic tone of this k-drama is like a double edge sword. In one hand, there are times that it made the story enjoyable to watch but on the other hand, it made some of what’s happening ridiculous.

What I do Not Like About this K-Drama?

(1) I don’t mind fantasy and science fiction genre, so, if that’s what I am watching I kinda expect certain impossible stuff but when the genre is not, then, I expect more realism without making me feel stupid to believe that it is happening. Such as when Go Ae Rin save Terrius in the water after jumping over the bridge. The scenario and what was happening made it surreal and not in a good way. All I can say, What!?!

(2) I find the character Kim Bon or Terrius loses its credibility on who he is as an excellent NIS spy due to the writing of the story. As there’s confusion on the balance of the story of either making it action comedy or action drama, there are things that Terrius does that’s incredulously stupid or unimaginable to be the action of someone of his caliber as a spy to be doing.

(3) The nosy KIS (King Castle Information System) group is more irritating than amusing. Honestly, I tried to like their characters and the story somehow made them integral to some of the scenes but in the end, they simply bug me.

(4) This k-drama could have been written and directed in a better fashion but it failed in finding a balance between light and seriousness of the situations being presented in the story. In the end, I just watch it so I will know what happened in the end but it didn’t anymore hold intense interest to me to watch it with pleasure.

Would I recommend this K-Drama? It is just okay especially if you love So Ji Sub as an actor like I do.
