Synopsis:
Cheol-Min is an ex-champion boxer who later became a gun for hire and went to prison for more than 4 years. When he came out of prison he started doing odd jobs to get by. One of those jobs is being a parking lot attendant. This where he met Jun-Hwa, a blind girl and works as a telemarketer. One rainy day, she brought some food for the old parking attendant and instead get to meet Cheol-Min. Their seeing each other at the parking booth became a daily habit watching Jun-Hwa’s favourite drama series. They ended up falling in love but Cheol-Min’s past is related to Jun-Hwa’s being blind and losing her parents. Cheol-Min sacrificed himself instead to give Jun-Hwa the chance to see again. A journey of two people and how they can still love each other always.

My Review:
I am truly a sucker when it comes to romantic films but in Always I don’t mind being sucker for it. As a disabled person myself I can relate to the feelings of Jung-Hwa in wanting to be independent and making her own way to survive in this life. Our options become even more limited if you don’t have a support system like your family. Han Hyo-Joo certainly brought Jung-Hwa’s character brilliantly. For some reason, Korean’s scripts always have coincidental connections between the lives of their lead characters, probably if this is a lesser quality film I will get ticked off but in Always, it truly became a part of the story as one of the driving force of its character’s sacrifice, Cheol-Min. So Ji Sub like Han Hyo-Joo played his character superbly. Totally brought me to tears especially in the scene where Jung-Hwa ended up giving therapeutic massage to Cheol-Min not knowing he is Cheol-Min in the Rehabilitation Center as he was missing for 2 years. So Ji Sub related what Cheol-Min’s pain and happiness at the same time on that moment so palpably well that only a cold-hearted person will remain dried eye on that scene. It was truly an exemplary acting by So Ji Sub. Always is truly one of the best Korean or even any given film I’ve seen for that matter. It will stay with me always.
Would I recommend this K-Movie? 101% YES.
