My Review:
I watched this during the 2016 Korean Film Festival in Manila. I thought it was a new movie but it is actually a movie shown in the year 2013. Nonetheless, it was an action film at par with a great US action movie. It is action packed to the point that even if my bladder was about to explode and need to pee, I have to wait up to the last minute for me to go and rush going to the toilet. There’s simply no time to be bored no matter how tired I was due to lack of sleep because of work. It enables me to forget everything else because it was captivating as well as entertaining to boot. An enjoyable experience watching it in the theatre rather than alone and within the confines of my own home plus be amongst K-addicts like me. To experienced other people’s reactions to each scenes was part of entertainment for someone who reviews Korean dramas and films. It gives me proper perspective of how a movie is perceived by others.
(1) Gong Yoo is a totally a different actor on this film. There’s no trace of him to remind you of his sweetie hunk character in Coffee Prince. He has elevated himself to a different new level and was very effective in portraying Ji Dong-Chul, a special force of North Korea.
(2) The car chase, the dialogue and the fight between Min Se-Hoon and Ji Dong-Chul was riveting and a total thrill. I can’t help to enjoy it as much as the Jason Bourne films with Matt Damon on it.
(3) Jo Jae-Yoon as Captain Jo gives a comic relief to the entire serious and heavily action film. He made the film fun and lighter to the audience. It was amusing to hear the reaction and laughter of the audience in the movie theatre because of him
What I do Not Like About this K-Movie?
There’s really nothing I didn’t like. I was too busy reading so fast the subtitles and enjoy the action of the movie to even critic what’s not good. So, it means it was simply perfect at the level of entertainment to which I judged the Korean films and dramas I watched and review.
Would I recommend this K-Movie? Totally Yes
