I know it is weird to some who knows me what’s my fascination with Korean Films and Dramas. It’s already sometimes hard to follow the story when you watch dramas and films let alone read subtitles along with it. I can’t explain it either except probably the way they deliver their dramas and films have more depth in showing and making you feel the journey of the characters in it. In any films and dramas it is critical that the actors and actresses are able to bring life to their characters so that the audience will care enough to watch them for an hour or so in films and even follow through 16 or more episodes in drama series that one will waste more than 24 hours of ones’ life to watch and care about what will happen to their characters. For K-Drama addicts like me, it is not only watching these films and dramas for the pleasure of it now but I extended it by even writing about them and spend money to maintain a blog. Sounds ridiculous, right? But, really for me it is a stress relief and I ended up doing 2 of the things I am passionate about, watching films and dramas and writing. So, after watching probably more than a hundred of K-Dramas and Films in a 10 year period, I began to be discriminating on what to watch and write. Korean dramas and films are not perfect, far from it actually especially if you’ve watched already as much as I did and you began to develop favoritism and attachments especially in their actors and actresses. They are not only beautiful and handsome as most of them are but they become my favourites because most of the time they bring to life characters I enjoy watching. They choose their films and dramas to the taste I prefer to watch and savour my addictions. So, without further ado, here are my 5 top actors and actresses that delivers not only stellar performances but films and dramas worthy of their beauty and talent.

My Top 5 and Favorite Actress:

1. Song Hye-Kyo
She was born on November 22, 1981. She will be turning 35 in 2016 yet her beauty is as flawless as the way she acts. I’ve first watched her in Full House. She made me laugh, cry and care about the characters she plays in any drama and films she’s into. Not only she’s easy on the eyes and even if I am not a man I appreciate her beauty and the look of innocence but most of all she has delivered such wonderful projects on the screen that made me want to look forward what will be her next drama or film that I can relish to see. My favorite dramas and film worthy to watch are Autumn In My Heart (2000), Hotelier (2001), All In (2003), Full House (2004), My Girl and I (2005), and, currently Descendants of the Sun (2016).

Song Hye Kyo

2. Jun Ji-Hyun
She was born on October 30, 1981. She will be turning 35 in 2016 and happily married to a banker, Choi Hoon Hyuk. I first saw her in the film My Sassy Girl (2001) and it hooked me to see more of Korean Films. My Sassy Girl was a classic for me and it made me appreciate foreign films and tolerate reading subtitles while watching what’s going on. She is as beautiful as the film My Sassy Girl and she continues to make exceptional films and dramas that give sense to my K-Drama addiction. She brings my happiness to her projects like Il Mare (2000), My Sassy Girl (2001), Windstruck (2004), The Thieves (2012), The Berlin File (2013) and My Love from the Stars (2013-2014).

Jun Ji Hyun

3. Ha Ji-Won
She was born on June 28,1978. At 37 and going 38, she still looks younger than her age. She is not typically beautiful in my standard but something in her radiates a beauty different from others. I believe she has a strong character in her that I can admire. That’s what makes me truly love her in the projects she chooses and most of the time the characters she plays shows that strength. She is as versatile as an actress will get. I first saw her in Damo (2003). And, wow, she just makes me want to be a stronger woman than I am. She continues to make me love K-Dramas because her projects make it worthwhile for me to enjoy and love them. She has done engaging korean dramas and films such Damo (2003), Something Happened in Bali (2004), Secret Garden (2010-2011), Kings To Hearts (2012).

Ha Ji Won

4. Shin Min-A
She was born on April 5, 1984 and will be turning 32 soon. She simply rocks me. I am heterosexual but there’s something truly sexy about her that I admire and wish I have. She  chooses interesting characters that make me want to watch even for just the pleasure of it. She thrives on the innocence she projects and chooses projects that makes me want to see more. I first enjoyed watching her in Madeleine (2003) and got addicted watching her with pleasure any K-Drama addict like me can appreciate such as Beautiful Days (2001), Madeleine (2003), Sad Movie (2005), The Beast and the Beauty (2005), A Bitter Sweet Life (2005), A Love to Kill (2005), My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho (2010), Arang and The Magistrate (2012) and Oh My Venus (2016).

Shin Min Ah

5. Gong Hyo-Jin
She was born in April 2, 1980 and will be turning 36 soon. The first time I saw her in a K-Drama I was not really into her. She is not actually the typical beauty I like for an actress. But, I got over it because she made me enjoy Sang Doo Let’s Go To School (2003). The manner she delivered her character in that K-Drama left an impression. In the end I got to love not how she looks but how she was truly getting into any character she’s into and forgetting she is just acting because there’s depth on the way she acts and gives life to the character. So, I watch with gusto the following projects she’s into such as Sang Doo Let’s Go To School (2003), Pasta (2010), The Greatest Love (2011), It’s Okay, That’s Love (2014), and Master’s Sun (2013).

Gong Hyo Jin

My Top 5 and Favorite Actors:

1. So Ji Sub
He was born on November 4, 1977. In a year’s time he will be forty but he doesn’t look 40. Guess with him life begins at 40 because he grows on me. So Ji Sub may not be my kind of yumminess I am into but when he acts a character he simply rocks my world. I forget he is So Ji Sub, the actor and get immersed on the character he portrays. Like Gong Hyo-Jin, he gives depth to any character he portrays. I first saw him in I’m Sorry, I Love You (2004). And, as times passes by he continues to make me want to watch all his projects such as Delicious Proposal (2001), Glass Slippers (2001),  Something Happened in Bali (2004), I’m Sorry, I Love You (2004), Always (2011), Phantom (2012), One Sunny Day (2014), Master’s Sun (2013) and Oh My Venus (2016).

So Ji Sub

2. Hyun Bin
He was born on September 25, 1982 and turning 34 this year. He is truly like wine that becomes even better as he aged. I first fall in love with him in My Name Is Kim Sam Soon. He radiates the handsomeness that is truly Korean in flavor. And, what’s even better about him is that he can truly act and make me believe and buy what he is selling when I watch his projects. I really look forward to all his projects and I love him in the following films and Dramas such Daddy Long Legs (2005), A Millionaire’s First Love (2006), My Name Is Kim Sam Soon (2005) and Secret Garden (2010-2011).

Hyun Bin
3. Jo In-Sung
He was born on June 28, 1981 and turning 35 this year. He is just simply handsome in my book. He is actually too handsome that distracts me when I watch his films and movies but because he is that good in delivering his characters I forget how he looks and get into the character he is portraying. I first saw him in one of the best classic Korean Film, The Classic (2003). His role there is not long but I can feel why a girl will fall in love with him. I continue to watch his projects and enjoy them such as Madeleine (2003), The Classic (2003), Something Happened in Bali (2004), Spring Day (2005), A Dirty Carnival (2006), That Winter, The Wind Blows (2013) and It’s Okay, That’s Love (2014).

Jo In Sung

4. Song Joong-Ki
He was born on September 19, 1985. He’ll be turning 31 this year but he looks like he is in his 20’s. I don’t know the magic of looking young like the actors in Korea but they certainly look younger than they are. I must admit Song Joong-Ki grew in me not on the first sight I saw him in a K-Film, A Werewolf Boy (2012), but because of the currently playing Descendants of the Sun. He always look too pretty to me but in Descendants of the Sun, oh my gosh, he certainly make me want to go to any danger zones just to be with him. His character there fits him to a T. It initiates me to want to know any soldier if only I am not married, lol! He finally looks like a real man and I appreciated the projects he is in such as Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010), A Werewolf Boy (2012), The Innocent Man (2012)

Song Joong-Ki

5. Kwon Sang Woo
He was born August 5, 1976, he’ll be 40 this year but he is still as handsome as the day I’ve fell in love with him when I watched him in Stairway to Heaven (2003-2004). He is the reason why I am inspired to create this blog and why I became a certified K-Drama addict. Although, when he got married his popularity dwindle but I really don’t care what others will say as long as he’s happy and making beautiful projects. Although, lately he hasn’t been choosing projects that I can enjoy but I guess, first love never dies. He can’t not be in my list because the fun begins in any K-Drama and Films is when the actor I am watching is not only yummy but delivers the character with soul. He is the only actor ever that turned me into a silly 13 year old girl that has a crush on an actor who don’t even know you exists. However, at least I got to kiss him on the cheek in his visit in Manila. He is the only actor that I am not ashamed to be a fan. I just hope he will do better projects in the future that can really makes me remember why I fell in love with him in the first place like Volcano High (2001), My Tutor Friend (2003), Once Upon A Time In Highschool (2003), Stairway to Heaven (2003-2004), Love So Divine (2005),  Sad Love Story (2005), Almost Love (2006), Bad Love (2007-2008), Cinderella Man (2009), More Than Blue (2009), Daemul (2010).

Kwon Sang Woo

It is indeed hard to choose which I will include on my list. I actually love other actresses and actors like Park Shin-Hye, Son Ye-Jin, Han Ga-In, Lee Min-Ho, Kim Soo-Hyun, Gong Yoo, Lee Byung-Hun, Won Bin, Ji Jin-Hee and Daniel Henney but some of their projects are either too young for my taste or not at all enjoyable. However, seeing these other actors and actresses in a K-Drama and Films make me want to check out if it is any good. I truly hope that the Korean Entertainment will continue to grow and be more liberal to feature what is really happening in their neck of the woods. It will certainly intensify my addiction to watch them and make it even more worth it to spend my time on it.
