Every one who knows me knows I am a certified K-Drama addict. It is a bug that for some reason gives me a relief and at the same time passion to do something atypical as to who I am and forget for awhile the mundane things I have to do. I like the symptom of feeling that I can temporarily go crazy and be a lunatic once in awhile about something not all can understand. One of my rebellious side which I believe is much safer than my smoking. Probably it is due to one of the facts that I never did like being a square, or be peg in a box and follow the leader. I like living in my own terms, never did like to become everybody else because I enjoy the freedom of choice regardless of what every one say. And, that for me makes life truly interesting.

So, that’s the diagnosis as to why exploring the extent of my K-addiction and finding a show that I can be hooked are two of the things that can give me the greatest high. Descendants of the Sun (DOTS) is a K-Drama that hit me by surprise and unless they will vaccine me by destroying this K-drama in the ending like what was done in Cheese In The Trap, then, the 8 reasons why I got the full viral potency of the DOTS virus along with the 1 Billion people in China watching it at iQiyi and other internet sites, the Thailand Prime Minister who are encouraging his people to watch it and 36.4% of Seoul and 31.6% over-all in Korea, makes my sickness justifiable indeed.

When you are a K-Addict like me, you learn pretty quick that not all K-Dramas are worthy of your time to watch and even if it does, the theme and the manner of executing them becomes the same over and over again. So, it is not quite often you get to watch something truly worth recommending. Although, there are a lot of K-Drama romcoms that gives me pleasure, I found myself truly immerse when the execution of the story becomes atypical like me by the usual standard of K-Drama. As far as it is currently going, it just keeps on giving and giving the right dose that a certified K-Addict and a romcom gal like me a real great satisfying buzz.

A NOTE: In order for you to be able to understand the 8 reasons, I felt photos are not sufficient enough to explain, so, instead I am posting some video excerpts from the DOTS K-Drama itself produced by KBS2. Please take note 2 Critical Factors: One, the videos are not my own and not my copyright. So, Do NOT download. Two, it’s a SPOILER’S ALERT, so, you don’t need to watch them if you plan to watch the K-Drama series.

1. The Banter of Conversation
The way they met, their series of interesting exchanges and even the challenges that each character have to go through to identify what they really feel became part of the charm of the show. It made me remember the excitement, the uncertainty and the anticipation of dating. Wondering for the things to come. I think this K-Drama captured it all too well.

2. The Scenery
The feel and look of the place truly adds up to making me feel more the story. It reminded me the beauty of our world especially if one is in love.

3. The Blend & The Music
This K-Drama I believe has blended well the different emotions I should be feeling while watching it. Every episode or even scenes had its way to relieve you from the toxicity of just one emotion. It blends well the delivery of the sadness and happiness, the seriousness and lightness,so, that one will have time to breathe to savor the moments and heighten the emotions when it is needed. That’s why it becomes addictive.

There’s nothing like good music that really elevates the mood and feelings of what one should be feeling while watching it.

4. The Friendship
Real friends are hard to come by. We may have more than a thousand friends in Facebook but that doesn’t mean they are for real. So, watching about friendship between 2 people that I hope I do have is quite pleasurable.

5. The Action
What I like about this K-Drama is that it has action scenes well enough within the border that a chick-flick like me would still enjoy and my hubby would have his own reason to stay and watch it with me.

6. The Suspense
Its suspense is not that it is scaring me out of my wits because there’s a ghost or a zombie that will devour me in a second but it is the fear of what will happen to the lead characters by the end of the story. It has been showing unpredictability and everyone knows it is pre-produced, so, whatever the production decided in 2015 will be the prognosis and end of it. There will be no reprieve for all of us who got the bug of DOTS virus. I know some people like their films and dramas to be too realistic but I don’t. If I want to watch one then all I have to do is look around me. Life no matter how happy and content one maybe will always end in tragedy because we will all die in the end, so, when I watch dramas and films what I am craving for is the feeling of hope. So, if a story ends like real and not reel life, then, what’s the point of me watching films and dramas? One can already see the tragedy of life every single day and once in awhile I need a break; and, watching films and drama is one of my possible escape routes until, unfortunately, it becomes too realistic as well.

7. The Romance
There are some who finds the romantic scenes cheesy. Well, I hate to break the news to you, guys, but one of the specifications of romantic love is being cheesy. Cheesy and being stupid are what brings two people together and what sets a couple apart is when they lose that. It is actually why 440 million and more women tune to this K-Drama because women, no matter how strong and independent they maybe, unless she’s lying through her teeth, will ALWAYS appreciate cheesy any time from the man they love.

THE MAIN COUPLE: Captain Yoo Shi-Jin & Kang Mo-Yeon

THE SECOND COUPLE: Master Sergeant Seo Dae-Young & First Lieutenant Yoon Myung-Joo

8. The Actors
Well, what more can I say when there are 2 good looking men whose characters deliver well what a man should be and a fantasy any woman, young or old, would like to have in their lives and in their beds, more figuratively. And, for men, to have 2 capable beautiful and sexy women playing the characters of what men truly want. On top of that we have a group of supporting actors that are truly amazing in providing side stories that will not make you want to press the fast forward button.

Every single episode of this K-Drama, so far, from Episode 1-10 has truly reached my every expectations in every way. And, how do one knows when one got infected with DOTS virus? Well, when you can’t wait until Wednesday and Thursday to come, then, can’t hardly sleep until you are finally able to watch the version with subtitles on Friday and willing to go through the same feeling all over again for the coming week, yet, you are way pass minding the torture of waiting and still wants more…that’s how I know that the DOTS virus got me hook, line and sinker.
